ECU vendors??
I live in NJ & I'm interested in getting a new E.C.U. (environmental control unit). I got the old one through Cherry Hill Medical. It was an ok unit, for the most part, but there were a lot of frustrations with using it. Over time, as information would change (contact phone numbers, tv channels, etc.) it became more & more annoying to use. The worst part, was that I had no way to access the computer to input/edit the commands. If info changed or a command wasn't working right, I'd have to have the installer come over to update it. Plus, there were quirks in the system that made it impossible to use all the features. For example, we had to disconnect the door opener so that my bed controls would work. We could trouble shoot most of the hardware issues over the phone, but most of the problems required someone coming here. It was costly to have the installer come back several times & I had a huge headache trying to get my Medicaid waiver to pay. Long story short, I've stopped using it all together. My roommate situation is much different than when I first moved to my apartment & thankfully I don't have to rely on it much.
That said, it would be nice to be able to turn lights on/off, operate the tv & bed & be able to make phone calls. As of right now, I'm bugging my roommates to help me. I've had no luck finding vendors. My caseworker through the VNA thinks I'll qualify for a new system, but I need to get quotes. I can't even find a place to call, let alone get quotes. Does anyone else living in NJ know where/who I can contact? I'm hoping some of you might have an ECU & have some ideas. I live in Monmouth county, NJ. Thanks, in advance!

tskushi26,
I would call Kessler and ask for Outpatient Occupational Therapy Dept 972-731-3600. If that doesn't work, PM me and I'll give you the direct # of someone I know there.
