Do you use intermittent or in-dwelling?

Hello everyone, thanks for the tons of interesting info on this bladder management miracle.
Anyone from Europe has been able to source the Veterycin/Puracyn/Microcyn in any EU country?
Thank you!

TC,
I do intermittent with sterile, closed kit (Bard) and maintain extremely good liquid intake and hygiene cath routine.
But my bugs are least considerate and get "patient of the year" from my urologist for recurring UTIs.
and urethra knowledge on this group / just cloudy without symptoms (fever/chills) is not a UTI , on this forum is a revelation to me.

I spent 3 afternoons reading this thread! Thank you all to share your information and experience. Now has anybody found out if Dermacyn is the same as Vetericyn/Microcyn? Dermacyn is available in my local Pharmacy here in Freiburg/Germany and it would be easier to get than the other labels.

Hi "Regine,"
This is a quote copied from Oculus Inovative Sciences website.

DermacynŽ Wound Care is a super-oxidized solution intended for use in the debridement, irrigation and moistening of acute and chronic wounds, ulcers, cuts, abrasions and burns.
Through reducing the microbial load and assisting in creating a moist environment, it enables the body to perform its own healing process.
DermacynŽ Wound Care can be broadly applied within a comprehensive wound treatment.
DermacynŽ Wound Care is based on the patented MicrocynŽ technology: a sterile super-oxidized, pH-neutral, purified water-based solution.
It contains reactive oxygen species in a stable formulation, has an extended shelf life and remains harmless to humans, animals and the environment.

Hope this answers your question.
All the best,
GJ

Thank you GJ. I got the dermacyn today. It was 31 Euros for 500 ml. Is that an o.k. price? I was lucky. I had an appointment right after that at my urologist, and he gave me his blessing to try it. But he was also wondering like some of you guys how it is stabilized.
The really rediculous thing happened later. When I was back in the nursing home and told the caregiver that the doctor approved of it and that he even said I could use the syringes repeatedly if I desinfect them, the caregiver said he wouldn,t care what the doctor said, they need to use a fresh one everytime. And this is a urologist who used to be head of the department of urology in a wellknown local hospital. Thank God I am moving to an appartment in three months, and I found a pharmacy who sells the syringes for 90 cent each. What an idiot!!!
Is there a specific protocoll that has worked for cloudy, grainy urine and a sp catheter? I know that you all experiment with what works best for you. But maybe you can spare me some trial and error with that precious stuff.

I try daily flushes with 50ml Dermacyn now, and I am on the second day now. There is still stuff coming out of my bladder, but less. And when I emptied my leg bag 5 minutes ago, I found myself "missing" that typical bad smell, really surprised, because after all I was reading I didn't expect results so soon.

Thank God it worked so soon. Are you mixing it with sterile water as others ?

No, I use it as it is. Third day today: less smell, less mucus, still some sediment, but the first night without abdominal spasms in a while, which could have been connected to a UTI. Exciting! I still have to find a way to get it somehow cheaper. The pharmacy said if I order 11 bottles of 500ml I wouldn't have to pay for shipping and pay 24 instead of 31 Euros per bottle. Is it good for a longer time?

It will be hard for you to get a better price than that I guess (24 euros). The problem for people that want to use that product the way SCI people do is the amount needed. That company is pricing the product for occasional use and little at a time, they charge a lot because usually someone will not buy another bottle the next week. I think I am right when saying that this must cost very little to produce. The other option would for someone to make their own by buying the right equipment mentioned earlier in this thread. I wonder what is the profit of the merchant on these .... hmmm.
