needin some help from the experts...
awhile back i reformatted my acer desktop/160gb hard drive, winxp pro. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/showthread.php?t=132021
it went pretty smooth except when it came to choosing hard disk space. i have everything on C: drive. D: is the cd/dvd drive. i right click C: and it shows..149 GB total..140 GB free..8.21 GB used. . is it okay setup like this? or could i have a more ideal setup? it seems to be running okay but it crawls every now an then. i have 1 1/2 gigs of ram. any thoughts? |

Rollin: You have enough RAM for Windows XP, and there is nothing that needs to be changed with your partition. Does the computer crawl or slow down when you are on the Internet doing something? Does the crawling just happen at any random time? What processor does this machine have?
How-to speed up Windows XP 1. Open the Windows Control Panel 2. Double-click on System 3. Click on the Advanced Tab 4. Click on the Settings button in the Performance section 5. Place a check mark in the "Adjust for Best Performance" and click "Okay" Windows will lose some of its eye-catching appeal but the bump in performance is noticeable.

IF and I mean IF you relocate MY DOCUMENTS to another logical drive....
20 GB for XP on PRIMARY partition all the 40 GB logical drives are on an EXTENDED partition 40 GB SOFTWARE (install all your programs HERE ~~!! except for Avast Antivirus and defrag program they should go on C and be the FIRST thing installed after installing motherboard drivers. 40 GB for example Documents(MY DOCUMENTS goes here so it will not fill up xp drive...everyone seems to put everything here anyway, lol) 40 GB example MP3 and Picture drive
