They don't do a great PR job. Look at the number of articles this news has generated - not one mention of HOW people can donate. ICORD has been around for a while, but aside from opening a pretty new building, there has been little to no publicity about what type of scientific research they're conducting. I had to send an email to ask. That was two weeks ago. No response. I'd love to know what Canadian scientists are doing.

I agree and know we are better off for having Rick's many contributions. I just wish the foundation had not shifted so far towards the "Quality of Life" angle. I would like my donations to go towards research not sports equipment. If the Wheels in Motion program had remained 50/50 on this or if there was an option of where to steer mine and my supporters donations that I collect during Wheels in Motion I would be able to maintain my enthusasm better.

It seems like a few years ago they were pushing "a cure is possible soon" but have not backed off and focus now on "inclusive communities", which really should be the government's job (although they are letting us down there).

I don't like the idea of funding sports equipment but I do like the funding for quality of life issues as they can make the disabling effects of a sci "less disabling"

Right, has Hansen in fact become a lazy butt? Maybe he has, like with all the money he has generated so far he could easely have started clinical trials like yesterday. What's holding him back? Has he become a too good friend of his wheelchair and his alterego hero "man in motion"?

Leif, I don't know the man or his condition. I have reservations of individuals or groups that advocate for funding (necessary, I know) rather than mention any significant accomplishments or a focused goal goin forward. I see the Sabrina Cohen web site with all the ritzy get togethers and wonder what are you doing for the focus of your organiziation. Well , maybe, the publicity and glamour is what the focus is of your group. I just don't know .

i bet if he was a high quad or mid quad he wouldn't say dumb stuff like that.
he would be using four letter words every 5 minutes like the rest of us quads.

I agree to a point but I know what would make sci even less disabling than a more wheelchair friendly society, making sci itself less disabling. If research could heal me, at least a little bit, even one good hand would make my quality of life a whole lot better than any social, athletic or accessibility program ever could.
