Problem With Outlook XP

( Notice the circle around the "Account" tab) But, my friend has Outlook XP and can't get the "Internet Account" tab to show which Internet Account (i.e. Comcast, Yahoo, AOL, etc) that the incoming email is from like mine is with Outlook 2000.

He can only get the "tab" to be displayed that states "Internet Account" but the tab's contents (unlike mine) remain blank when he gets mail from any of the accounts.

Is this done differently in XP compared to 2000 Outlook??? How can I get his "Internet Account" tab to show which account incoming mail is from like mine is in the pic???

Kovyfan,

Have him check the name settings he has for each account: tools->accounts

He can change the name for each account listed by doing "properties" on each and editting the name on the "general" tab.

McD

edit: just noticed you said Outlook, I use Outlook Express so it may be different but I would think this should work on both.

Well, what's the difference if he changes the name of the account??? The problem isn't that he didn't name them.

The problem is that he named them, he has the tab like I do in Outlook 2000 in the pic. BUT, UNLIKE OUTLOOK 2000, WHEN HE GETS AN INCOMING EMAIL, IT DOESN'T INDICATE WHAT ACCOUNT IT IS COMING FROM (like mine is above....I have one email indicating coming from Comcast and 2 indicating coming from Yahoo *see pic*).

For me in Outlook Express, the name that is put into that field I pointed to, is the name that shows up in the "Account" tab like in your pic. I was alluding to the fact that maybe when he setup his accounts that maybe a default name of "Internet Account" was put there and he did not change the name to something else.

edit: sorry, just reread you first post and see that his field is showing "blank", not "Internet Account". I will look around some more.

You are using the wrong field.

In Outlook XP, "Account" is a field associated with Contacts. When selecting a field to add to the view in the "Show Fields" dialog box, choose "All Mail Fields" under "Select available fields from:". Choose "E-Mail Account" and add it to the beginning of "Show these fields in this order:"

I spoke too soon and I have to apologize for some misinformation.

My friend has Outlook 2000(not XP), BUT HIS LOOKS DIFFERENT FROM MINE IN THAT HE HAS set-up for Corporate Workgroups and i HAVE MINE SET UP FOR INTERNET MODE.

So, the problem still persists...it must have something to do with the "corporate workgroups" settings.

sorry for steering you guys wrong in trying to help me.
