FWIW - This is the Life forum, not Politics. I can see that for some, the original post could have been seen as a challenge to Americans to offer some defense of why our country considers itself a global leader and innovator. It appears that it was intended more in fun - like the game where you post a picture containing the next sequential number.
Maybe we can all inhale and offer a contribution more in the spirit of the question as it was just explained? We don't need to rehash the thread in a tick-tock of who said what and why. Maybe just move forward with the intent of having some fun? As somebody (Mark?) said earlier, invention isn't necessarily the key. The blue jeans I mentioned were worn and produced abroad before Levi Strauss and others made them the uniform of youth across the globe. Hamburgers predate Mickey's Golden Arches. The magic of America is that we learned to sell the sizzle of the steak. I live in a town where many things are named for Stanley Switlick. He has a lot to do with people jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.

I just wonder if modern Egypt was not so important to the world, why did Obama choose its capitol to address the world for the sake of greater harmony and co-operation?
