I wonder if a civilized person would use such language in a light-hearted decent discussion.
I would like to translate these 2 words to fellow members.
The civilized, highly progressive cspine here is saying to me as an "Egyptian" to "eat my shit" in the lowest dirties Arabic language ever heard even from Arabs.
This reflects truly a citizen from a country that offered a lot to the world already.
And Americans wonder why, speaking in very general terms, they are so reviled by the rest of the world.

Thanks for the translation drnader. I had wondered what that phrase meant.

FWIW - This is the Life forum, not Politics. I can see that for some, the original post could have been seen as a challenge to Americans to offer some defense of why our country considers itself a global leader and innovator. It appears that it was intended more in fun - like the game where you post a picture containing the next sequential number.

Maybe we can all inhale and offer a contribution more in the spirit of the question as it was just explained? We don't need to rehash the thread in a tick-tock of who said what and why. Maybe just move forward with the intent of having some fun?

As somebody (Mark?) said earlier, invention isn't necessarily the key. The blue jeans I mentioned were worn and produced abroad before Levi Strauss and others made them the uniform of youth across the globe. Hamburgers predate Mickey's Golden Arches. The magic of America is that we learned to sell the sizzle of the steak.

I live in a town where many things are named for Stanley Switlick. He has a lot to do with people jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.

Why don't you summarize to us the coolest (in your own opinion) medical discoveries and advancements made by the great US doctors to humanity?

The majesty of Egypt:

Egyptian civilization has always been one of my favorite topics in history. Even as a child, I knew its beauty and wonder.

I just wonder if modern Egypt was not so important to the world, why did Obama choose its capitol to address the world for the sake of greater harmony and co-operation?
