CNN says TENS doesn't work
http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/12/30...e.stimulation/
It works for the way I use it. 1. It helps distract me on plane trips 2. If I screw up my pain management, it makes it bearable until resting or pharmaceuticals can help out. -- JB |

I agree JB,
I have one and it works well. It sure beats taking another pill. Sometimes I wonder if some people aren't placing the electrodes properly because some of have said it works great while others say it doesn't do a thing. But in any case, it helps with the lumbar radiculopathy. I can put it on and my legs and feet feel normal again...at least for awhile. |

My husband says it does nothing for his radiculopathy, perhaps even makes it worse. But it works like magic on his shoulder (old injury).

The clarity of the article......used on AB
I find it critical that the article was talking about back pain with able body people! Post SCI I have talked with "Back pain" and as I can concure that it exists and is bad but compared to SCI there really is no avenue for comparison!
When we have extremely injured nerves where back pain sufferers at least have their head above water and the nerves are still connected, they have PICNIC PAIN in my humble opinion. When I have used Electrical Stimulation it has allowed me to keep muscle atrophy at bay. It has also given a minor respite form the consistant continuity that is every day life pain. I find it interesting that the gentleman in the picture does not have a catheter dangling out his penis how bad could his pain be? When the dude has to tear open his rectum to evacuate his bowel program because he no longer has function then he will understand what REAL PAIN feels like. I just hope jackass bureaucrats don't get a handle on this "research" to impede our access to E-stim. |
