How to quote?

I'm sorry-I feel so stupid sometimes, but I'm in terrific pain and trying to understand how to quote from someone else's post. If I understand correctly, after reading the UBBCode link, I should copy the text of what I want to quote *before* I hit the "post reply", then click on "quote" and paste in the quote? Then the quote will automatically be indented? I assume I need to type in "so and so said" before I click on "quote?"

Just hit that little icon down at the bottom of the message:

jimnms, that is great!

skye83, pressing that icon on somebody else's post will automatically place the contents of the post between quote commands in the text box.

If you want to quote something manually, you can press the ["..."] button in your posting box and this will insert the quote commands into your text box. You can then type or past text between the start- and end-quote commands in square brackets, i.e.
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
Quote:
text
</pre>

The quote commands should automatically indent your quoted text and also show "quote:" and lines above and below the quoted text. The quote commands also allow nested quotes, i.e. quotes within quotes.

Wise.

Testing to see what happens when I use the " " at the top of my post. I don't see the purple menu bar you guys have posted-my reply post just shows msg icons, subject field, text field, instant graemlins and instant UBBCode. Jim, I don't see the icon you circled in the lower right corner. Why does my setup differ from what you both posted? just curious...

Jim, I like what you said about mistakes.
