Made the switch from MySQL to Postgres!
Phew!!! Using the ADOdb library I was able to go database-independent with the SCI-Base.....the Spinal Cord Injury Database. Fired up a Postgres backend and rooted out non-standard SQL.....and bingo!!!!
![]() Postgres has more sophisticated query abilities, stored procedures and triggers, transaction support and views! Views will help us use reporting tools that cannot handle elaborate queries. We'll simply code the query as the select statement behind a view. Then the reporting tool will see the view as a single table. Life is good! ![]() We got published in Lab Animal magazine with an article about this system. It's the first ever being published for me. Our article will be in the March issue. ![]() http://www.labanimal.com/ ~See you at the SCIWire-used-to-be-paralyzed Reunion ~

Thanks, Matt.
![]() We're actually loving the BSD backend of OSX. And Apple's rackserver delivers a lot of bang for the buck. OSX being BSD is a great platform for open source and the graphical admin tools that Apple is adding are really starting to improve. ~See you at the SCIWire-used-to-be-paralyzed Reunion ~
