Anti-counterfeiting provisions in the latest version of Adobe Systems' flagship product have proven little more than a speed bump, but company representatives insist that including them was the right thing to do.

Adobe acknowledged last week that its Photoshop CS digital editing package includes a "counterfeit deterrence system" designed to prevent users from accessing images of currency....

ya know, as much as I appreciate Adobe's intentions here, they should've said something before someone else discovered this. Photoshop is a program used heavily in my field, and for a $649 product, Adobe isn't terribly smart to be keeping secrets like this.... it can potentially arise questions like "what else?"

I'll still support them though.

p.s. this article is a little weak in its facts. CS provides a lot more than just a speed increase.

$649 is the single-user license for PS. I boought the v.7 design collection at academic pricing & will soon upgrade to CS. I use PS professionally, & I hate to break it to ya Max, but $5 and/or a burned copy is illegal.

Besides, for me, it pays for itself quickly. My software piracy days of college have been over for a while.
