My brother got this game from his wife for Christmas. They are huge Myst addicts too. He said you should google for hints, advice, etc. There is a lot of help available online. (You probably already know that.) Good luck!

I just got the first one. We spent hours on end when I was in the service trying to figure these out. So, I am just starting fresh.

Marcomo, Steven...thanks. I was a little frazzled last night, after having jumped into the volcanic lava pit SIX FRICKIN' TIMES in a row!! But I'm better now. I'm not sure I want actual answers...maybe just a hint. I like the feeling of solving it myself..so I may just continue....I found a web site (Uru Obsession) that has forum boards like CC...bookmarked it for future use..possibly!
![]() Pat, you are in for so much fun/frustration! I got Myst way back when, and was completely obsessed with solving all the puzzles. Same with Riven and Myst III,Exile. Now Uru is different. Not only do you have to solve puzzles, you walk through it in the third person (you are "in" the game, not just seeing things as in Myst). So you have to master things like...jumping. Running, turning, stopping on a dime to stomp on the wooden thingie...things like this. And if you fail, and the volcanic lava is rushing at you, you "link" out of danger and end up in your safe haven, Relto..which is an island very similar to Myst Island. You can't really die..yet. I've walked off cliffs just to see what happens. (I know..I know...) Finally, and this is why I'm convinced that the creators of the Myst games, Robyn and Rand Miller, are sadistic creeps...you can't save your game!!! Any changes you make are made, and you have to live with them, or start over completely!! Having ranted enough....I'm back to the lava pit! Pat, let me know how you fare...and Marcomo, tell your brother I said Good Luck! Vicky |

I had a lot of enjoyment playing Myst, and that must have been back in the mid-90s or earlier. I wish I had the time to play computer games, and I think everyone needs to have fun. I find it interesting that you cannot save games because this is one way, as someone who has limited hand function, I needed to do in order to move to the next level. I would think that there is probably a cheat sheet or code somewhere on the net that may allow you to become "God" and not have to die. I also recall reading that Myst was the game of the year when it came out.
Good luck. PN |

Hi PN,
I was trying to remember when Myst originally came out; it must have been in 1993 or so, because they've put Myst, Riven, and Myst III on one DVD, and are calling it the 10th Anniversary edition. I had to laugh (and grimace in guilt) when you said you wished you had time to play computer games. I wish I had time too!! Luckily I don't have to go back to work until the Monday after New Year's! ![]() As for saving the game, it's not as bad as I thought. In this game, you don't have to solve all the puzzles to advance to the next Age. You can hit any age you want, and travel back and forth between all of them. When you return to an Age, the things you've done are saved. You just can't save your game, do something stupid, and then magically go back to before your stupid act...if that makes sense! It sure takes my mind off the everyday grind, though! Take care, Vicky |
