Adaptive Videogame controls
I am a C4/C5 Quad interested in buying either PlayStation 2 or a Nintendo. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good videogame control. I found a link for a sip and puff control, but I have limited arm movement and I want to find a control that makes me use what I have.

Cbowen: When I did play computer games I encountered some problems because of my finger, hand, and arm limitations. To finish Tomb Raider, I e-mailed one of their tech support personnel and he was able to provide me with some answers so I could finish the game. When I started to play the new version of MS Golf, I noticed that the clicking of the mouse button went from two clicks to three clicks, and I could not handle this change. I called the phone number for their tech support, and I was told that there was no way to resolve the issue. Through trial and error I eventually figured out a way I could play the game with only two clicks of the mouse button.
Perhaps one of our members will have a solution for you that will solve this issue. PN |

You could try one of these ...
X Arcade Possibly add a U to the top of the joystick. There's also a trackball version which looks quite cool. Apparently you can get adapters that let you use the same unit with a pc, PS2, xbox etc. If you do try one and it works for you, let me know. I'd like to import one if its a decent solution. |

I have an arcade styled joystick very similar to the one below. As mentioned, I taped a U-shaped molded piece of plastic to the joystick. I am a C5.
Now, the only problem with playing video games is feeling what button you are pushing :-) -Lewis |

I have been working on a custom controller for some time. I also tried the ky and wanted something more.
First, custom armrests were made that the controller would be able to mount to. The controller is based off a PS/2 control. I have the adapters for PC, game Cube, and x box. There is left analogue as well as left Digital. All four buttons on the right were converted to a digital joystick. All of these buttons can also be locked on with toggle switches. This is especially useful for the throttle in driving games.I love Mario cart. R and l buttons are on a smallmouth joystick. That was the trickiest part. I use a harmonica holder for that. Ethernet wire connects it to the controller. Basic arcade buttons for start and select. There is also turbo. Basically I can play almost any videogame without taking my hands off of the joysticks. The only control missing is right analogue. This would have added $150 to my costs. Most games that use this are too hard for us gimps to play anyway. I really want to play Halo 2. Fibreboard was used for this first model. I am having an aluminum one made. This will be smaller and lighter. I got to get some pictures. You guys will love it. I have a KY that I only use a couple of times for sale. Brian C/5 http://bspill1.home.comcast.net |

Regarding the arcade like joysticks, it's important to note that you will not be able to play games that utilize analog buttons using PlayStation 2. There are only a handful of games I've been able to play. Most are one-on-one fighting match games.
Good luck! -Lewis |
