Activia, align, pb8, etc. Which one?
Questions: Which, if any, do you take? How long before you saw a difference? After awhile, do you still take it daily? Thanks!

CKF, we are trying to get my son's digestion back on track. He was on massive antibiotics back in April and May. Then had a bladder stone removed and again, back to back antibiotics. Since then, lots of gas, wet farts, a few (very small) bowel accidents. All of a sudden he has to watch EVERY THING he eats. This is making us crazy!! I currently have him on Align. We started with Activia, but could not tell much difference. We will stick with Align for a bit longer. I think he needs a stool culture. We will be seeing the doc this week for the referral. Advice? Thanks!!!!

Mombo, why do you need a referral for a stool culture? Any GP or your regular physiatrist can order that and check results. Then, if the test shows something way out of the ordinary, you can get a referral to a GI doc.
As for me, you might remember from a previous thread that I'm an Activia gal.

HipCrip, I think our primary needs to see him first. We are going tomorrow. Pretty sure he will order it. Hopefully, we won't need a referral to a GI. I remember your post on Activia - I was inspired by what you said and we tried it for a couple of weeks. Not much improvement so we moved on to Align. It's been 3 weeks on Align and not much change.
Thanks for your input! |

I had the same experience as your son, Mombo, while taking Align. I am taking Florastor now and am having better success with it.

I saw somewhere, of course can't remember where that there was a class action suit pending on activa...something about false advertising...the money amout was 35 million and you could go back 1 year without proof of purchase...don't have time to "google"...my AB daughter swears by it and says if she goes just a few days without she can tell the difference...

For probiotics I take Pearls, but for me it works a lot better in combination with a prebiotic. You may need both until his stomach settles.
