Too Many CD's to Juggle

Hello,

"Juggle not, that you may not be juggled"

Taken from Matthew 7:1 (Matthew 7:1 Â*¶Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 Â*For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.) Common Sense and Wisdom are not to be excluded!

Anywhat, GOT a lot of compact disks that my programs use, the problem is that why can't the cd be loaded into the computer instead of the computer program wanting me to insert cd #409 in the series. Is there any way to install all the program cd's so it (the program) will not ask for any particular CD. If not, then is there any hardware that can store, say 100 cds and then will load itself. Like a stereo cd changer type machine.

There are several programs out there that might help you. Here is one that I use. Alcohol Software
Store your most used or important CDs as images on your computer and run them at 200x speed from up to 31 virtual CD or DVD drives!

The only downside is you need to store each whole cd on a harddrive uncompressed.

You can download a free trial to see if it is what you are looking for.

David, there are CD changers out there that you can use with your computer. They used to be fairly widespread in use, but I can't seem to find one right now; I'll keep looking.

Thanks,,

Why can't we install the entire program, instead of having seperate cds that have to be reloaded. Is there anyway to install the entire cds in the computer, instead of using extra hardware devices?

Most software will give you an option to install everything. On some installers, when installing chose custom instead of tipical, and you should have the option to do a full install.

Keep in mind though, alot of programs still require you to insert the CD to run the program as an anti piracy thing, but the program still runs off the hard drive.

Circle Virtual CD creates a virtual CD-ROM drive on your Windows PC. This allows you to make images of your favorite CD-ROMs and use them without inserting a CD into a CD-ROM drive. Circle Virtual CD: 1) improves the speed at which you access data, 2) stops you from having to switch disks in and out of your CD-ROM drive. Use Circle Virtual CD to easily access your favorite games, favorite music or favorite software programs. Since Circle Virtual CD uses CircleScan(tm), nearly *any* CD can be imaged.

There's a thing called a Dacal Technology DC-101 CD Library, which is reviewed here. It holds 150 cd's, but does not load them for you. Apparently it's indexable, so cuts down on the "Where's that damn disk" time.
There's also a 6 disk cd changer, reviewed here. Could be a little spendy, but waddya want.
