Getting new chair 16" wide seat vs 14"
I am getting a new chair soon and they say at the wc clinic I can go from my current 16" wide seat to a 14" ( I have lost almost 20lbs since I got my current chair). My question is I have demoed a 14" and it just seem so small compared to the 16". I guess I will get used to it but I was wondering what the pro's and con are from anyone who has made the switch down in size. Thanks!

Knowing how easy it is for SCIs to pick up weight, especially if their activity level drops because of a pressure sore or something, I would go for the 16" unless the width was causing problems.

Mine is 12.5" and I love that I can come through every door I want in a house. When I was in the US I was the only one who could come into the small bathrooms when we were visiting people. I don't see any cons at all. I don't see any reason why anybody should gain weight either because they are in a chair. And anyway, even if you gain weight, your butt is hardly getting any bigger, it is your upperbody who is gaining. The butt and legs are getting skinnier and skinnier the longer you have been sitting.
I have gain weight because of thyroid problems and because my muscles have been bigger from wheeling but only my upper body. My thights and butt are skinnier than ever. No muscles left, only in my ankles and feet who are working like normal.
