Good, cheap microphone for voice recognition software
If you are using voice recognition software for your computer and would like an array microphone, I found a good one that has recently been marked down to 10 dollars. This microphone will sit on your desk or on top of your monitor which means you will not be tethered to your computer like you are with a headset microphone. The only drawback is that it will pick out more external noise, so you should use it in a quiet area. I tried it out the other day and it seemed to work quite well.
Hopefully someone will find this of use... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...sku=TC1-VA2000 |

I sometimes have the radio or TV on in the background while I'm surfing the web. I currently don't use any voice software. Would this microphone be messed up by even a low volume radio or TV?

Telex microphone, bit sensitive but works
My fiance Shawn bought a Telex microphone and he uses it a lot! He's c-4 quad and only down is that it is super sensitive! Key is to just train the voice reconition in different settings I think. We have to keep the thing down to the lowest volume but the tv, radio, people chattering in the background can be filtered out with the voice program you used - we have Dragon 6 Naturally speaking. Still has a few bugs but overall working.

Alan,
Sorry about the delay in responding. The volume of your TV or radio could he and issue depending on where the speakers are. If possible, you want the speakers in front of you so they are directed at the back of the microphone. Hopefully you understand what saying. If you are watching TV, you would have better luck if your computer monitor and TV are facing in the same direction. That way, the noises going into the microphone must reflect off of another surface. If you're going to use voice recognition software in a relatively "noisy" area your best bet is to use a headset microphone. |
