why is everything so expencive when u want something extra .

i was looking for a set of spinergy lx wheels with flexrims here in the netherlands .we dont get them from our insurance .well here te charge you $2200 for a set of those wheels without axels and standart tyres .

were in the states sportaid charges u with s&h $920 without axels but with the tyres that i want .Now iam lucky my aunt lives in nc and comes to visit us in november and she brings them with her on here trip to the netherlands.

also when you want something extra that makes your daily life better it will cost u a fortune here in nl but what i see also in the us .but half as expencive as here

here the insurance makes a choice for u that is the cheapest best solution for u .that means a naked wc with nothing extras .mine kuschall is 3,5 years old has allready changed 5 frameparts new backrest

the rotten thing is i only have one wc when its broken down it means laying on the coutch the whole day(ore more ) till they fix it (last time 3 days and last time frameparts 3 months).

buying a second wc here is no option will kost u for a tlite naked $4000

every extra the charge u a fortune sometmes i think its because we have no options .

In Spain the insurence it`s different, it`s something like Obama is want to do now, here everyone have insurence, the goberment pay for it, but they give me a wheelchair every two years, but only they pay for the wheelchair 660 euros($900), so you only can buy something like the pic(that was my first chair) but i donate to Africa when i go out of the hospital and bought a Quickie GTX for only $4000( with STD wheels) now i`m going for a ZRc but from USA.
If we want ultralight chairs we have to pay for it,and of course forget Spinergys wheels and all that things, the only way you can have some special is paying for it, so a good option is import from USA by sportaid.

here you have 3 ways to get a wheelchair by 3 diffrent state owned healthinsurance/emloyerinsurance .

for in and around the house your town has to supply u a wheelchair .from filling in the form untill you sit in your chair takes about 6 months at the fastest way for me it was 9 months (first apply )then he look for the best and cheapest solution for you .the chair stays propery of your town .when you get a new one they take the old one with them .all maintnance is payed by the town even new tyres and so .

when the guy that does the maitnance thinks its to expencive to make you get a new one .evry thing extra that you do you have to pay for yourselve .because here everything is payed by the govnerment here it makes it very expencive if u wanna buy one yourselve .you can also get a budget for a wheelchair but they give u what they have to pay for a wheelchair and you have to do the maitnance your selve also you have to do 5 years with the wheelchair than .

than you have the employers insurance the provide for up and aroud the work .but if u have a town provided chair the make it alomost inpossible to get one from them .the rest is the same as with the town provider.

when my wc is broken so that it cant be fixed i hae to wait untill the come to make it lay on the coutch ore bed if its really broken and repport myselve ill at work off course my boss aint glad with that somthing that iam either when that happens .

than the third insurance is for if u are living in a special care housing unit ore an old parents home .

since here its payed all by the gov local ore state (employers insurance is state owned and the last one also and towns get a budget for handicapped people) it makes everything extra very expencive.

Here in Brazil is awfull.
The WC the government provides are the worse you can think of. The WC are heavy, not adjustable and I even wonder if they have different sizes.
The only way is to buy one yourself. But then it comes to another problem: the brazilian WC brands they have very low quality if compared with american and european ones. They are improving, but improments make the wc even more expensive.
I tried to import one, but it is so expensive will all the taxes that we have to pay, that is better if I order one on sportaid and go to the US to get it. Which I'll be doing soon.

About the extra, here (I'm talking about barzilian brands) they are not that much expensive, but there is not much variety and the quality is not so good.

The Spanish taxe for wheelchairs are only 4%, but if i want to import wheelchairs pieces, for example Spinergys wheels the taxes are 16%

Here it depends on how you import it. It can vary from 20% to 60% of the wc price. But there's a lot of burocracy, the chair price is not suppose to exceed U$ 3000, and you take the risk that if the brazilian authorities think that the chair is not "in line" with the government requirements, they might send the chair back or something like that.

Crapy !

it costs nothing to import wheelchair or parts to ireland, and there are no delays. it takes about a week extra to get something from sportaid, and i do it all the time. anything that is exported from the us has a customs label, and if that label says 'wheelchair parts' that means no taxes, no charges, no delays! if i buy a wheelchair, or part of one, of something specifically for disabled people, from anywhere in the world (including locally) it is 0 rated for tax. isnt this supposed to be one of the areas the eu want to make universal across europe?

i know its the same situation in uk

in that case toto, there are a few online stores that operate out of the uk that you might be able to buy tax-free from. they are more expensive than sportaid, but still less than dealers. i am lucky because as well as state assistance (which would buy me something very very good, but it takes a lot of paperwork/time) i have insurance that will reemburse me for an amount each year that i spend anywhere in the world. last year i bought a pwerchair from spinlife, for which i got 100% less an 'excess payment' of about 250euros, and this year i may buy another manual (probably tilite from sportaid). their only stipulation is that i get a letter from the health board (the government) each time to say they are not buying it.

there was recently a lot of talk on the news about how ireland may switch its health service to something similar to the dutch model. im not sure whether or not we should...
