I think you'd fry her skin off at White Sands in summer. Bente, it's where Trinity Site is where we tested the first atomic bombs. I'm sure you've seen the documentaries.

But you haave to go to a county fair or state fair towards the end of your trip and where will she be on the 4th of July, Ladies?

Bente, maybe hit PRINT on one web site mentioned for each place before going to bed and read it with morning coffee. Whoever meets her have a Rand McNally Road Atlas she can mark her travels in and ship home instead of pack.

Forgive me if it appears that I'm gushing but I am copying some of my post from elsewhere on the forum because I want to take the opportunity to encourage everyone ... that if an opportunity to meet a fellow CC'er presents itself be sure to try as hard as you can to "dew it" ... it's so worth the effort. I may be extrapolating a little here but our experience meeting Cory totally reinforced my feelings about peer support and its value .... here it is :

"I was totally unprepared for the effect Cory's visit would have on Bill .... after all these years CC has been at arms length in our house and suddenly there it was sitting in our living room ... its a little hard to explain but it seems to have energized Bill and he suddenly seemed interested in talking talking talking ... cure, care, mobility, pain everything and Cory was more than happy to share and seemed to be able to relate despite the age difference ... I get a little emotional telling you folks about it. He was like a bottle who's cork has popped and even I underestimated how much was in there waiting to come out. Bottom line .. it simply reinforces in my mind the importance of peer support. Having someone who can relate to your personal situation is priceless and universal .... we are not an island" ..........

I am going to bathe you all in the light ... so that Bente has a safe and comfortable journey and that the experience of meeting the other women (and possibly some of the boy types) is everything they are dreaming it will be .... because I have a feeling this trip is going to be one of those pivotal moments that don't come along everyday !!

I found out how to read it.

Oh yes, I think it is great to meet other SCIs, I don't mean just now but usually when I meet others here we talk and talk and talk even more. And I learn a lot I didn't know, and I can teach other people the thing I know.

LIke now, Betheny will show me how to drive with handcontrolls and I am willing to teach how to do the escalator and how to go up and down from the chair if somebody doesn't know. But that is for the paras I think, most quads are not strong enough. I know Betheny has taken the escalator before.

You may be learning handcontrols before you get to Beth with all the driving we are about to do.
I am terrified of escalators....

I know the American CC member, Shawn Stone taught people to use the escalator on the rally in New York. He learned in the same rehab as I was in the winter, it is safe as long as the escalator in not too wide. You have to hold on with both hands.

Do I dare to drive in the States? My license is legal and internationale, but remember I am use to small roads. The highway here has only two two lanes each way, but I have been driving in Germany in 200 km/h(124 m/h)and in France and I have even been driving inside Barcelona in a trafic circle with four lanes. Took me two rounds to get out again, the Spanish people was driving like crazy and did not use their blinker to change lanes. I was horrified
