this is all good information - something else i like to do is go to www.sportaid.com and fill in the order forms for chairs i think i might like, or am curious about. it helps me see what the various options are, and i still do it even though im not in the market for a new chair -its wheelchair browsing!

A good suggestion. You can also print out the order forms from the manufactuers web pages. This can be even more helpful as there are more explainations of some of the options.

A Qucikie GPV may work well for you.
The GPV is a bit outdated IMO and heavy compared to other options.

if you're going to get a chair that's not adjustable, make sure to demo a chair that is so you can decide how much dump you want, where your center of gravity is, how tall you want to seatback and just the regular dimensions of the chair. I just it until it's comfortable and easy to propel. There are so many adjustments that can make a huge difference, play with them to get an idea of what works best with you

I am not talking about titanium chairs being the only option better than the GPV.

I am trying to purchase a K0005 chair, not Titanuim, and not expecting them to cover all of it. I wish I had the insurance you all had.

Medicaid doesn't in many states. Many insurance companies will pay what a basic aluminim chair costs leaving a good chunk of change for the buyer to pay.
John,I've been involved with over 25, probably more, individuls when they purchase chairs and very few titanium chairs are funded 100%.

Most SCI are unemployed, underemployed,or have little disposable income after dealng with the expense of SCI thus paying copay on titanium chair is difficult unless they get some type of assistance.

Fuentes ..... mine won't. And it has been 2 different companies. And medical issues (shoulders) requiring ultra light weight.

The quickie chairs are getting lighter, the current GT is almost 2 pounds lighter than the older one I have I understand.

emie im also c7 and sounds like we function around the same level. my first chair was a ti lite zra and was too big then but right now im trialing a ti lite tra and zr and im loving the tra, it fits me perfectly. After being two years in a chair i know what i want now.

Trial, trial, trial different chairs and give yourself time to get a feel for every chair. Go small and light, reason being if you decide to lift your chair in and out of the car it'll be easy! and plus pushing is a breeze! OT's can only suggest so much but only you know what works for you.

Let me know if you need any help

Smiles. Nafi
