Can he get funded for an environmental control unit through his insurance or a settlement? Is there an organization that might donate an ECU? How old is he? Might he qualify for Make-A-Wish?

An ECU could include a phone but also independent control over the TV, radio, a fan, bed controls, drapes open/closed, even unlocking and opening the front door to let friends or PCAs in. They range in price from about $1000 up.

What state is your friend in? Some states have a program through the phone company that provides low cost but high tech phones for people with disabilities. It would be good to check on this with their local phone company.

You can also find information about high tech phones at www.abledata.com

sure, i c2/3 quad and have no moovement. i use an ameriphone rc200. i use sip and puff tooked to the remote that comes with it or you can use your voice to answer it. works great. retail $499 but do a search on ebay, i see them all the time around 20-50 bucks. they might be used but it beats 499! heres a link to one. good luck
