JetStream Pro or MatRX Elite back?
Okay, so now we're getting down to the "nitty gritty". Don't know if I should have had all these questions in one thread or not ANYWAY, I like the sleek, simple lines of the JetStream but I wonder if it's deep enough. I'm in a Jay2 (reg) now and like the depth. The customer sales person says the J.P is only 0.5-1" deep. I think my Jay2 must be about 1.5-2" deep. PLUS, my insurance will not pay much on it. But it weighs less than 2lbs! The MatRX PB Elite is 3" deep. (Been recommended to me). I don't like the cutouts on that back. Their regular PB (posture back) which has a nicer smooth back only comes in 5" or 7" deep options, which I'd think would be too deep. (I sat in a Jay2 deep contour once which I thought too "confining", but don't know it's depth). But my ins. will pay for the MatRX! But it weighs 6lbs! One of the main reasons for getting this new chair (ZRA) is to save on weight. I'm willing to pay the extra but only if it would really be better, and I'm just not sure. lAdvice anyone? Please? Thanks, Lynne

I have had both...and I personally like the JetStream Pro back. It is plenty deep for my needs...and definitely weighs a ton less than the Matrix back. I function as a T-10-T12 (given the day) if that helps any.

Thanks wheeliecoach. Actually, I found on their website that a 16x12" MatRX PB Elite weighs "only" 3lbs, not 6! You'd think they could get that right. Still heavier than the JetStream. I appreciate your input. Your experience and opinion really do help! Wish I could use a "plain" MatRX, not Elite. Smoother back, but they're 5" deep, not 3". Thanks! Others?

i just found out about the matrix back right after i ordered my j-pro. i got the 10" j=pro but the 10" matrix looks much more to my liking. i'm more wobbly in the j-pro being c-6-7. i think the sides on the matrix would make me more stable, just my opinion.

Thanks rollin64. What back did you have before the JetStream Pro? I'm wondering if the J.P. is more shallow than most solid backs. I wouldn't be stable in less than my Jay2. (whatever THAT is) I'd be getting the 12" or the 13" in whatever back.
BTW, did either of you get the depth adjustable hardware on either back and how was it? Did it get you back far enough, if you needed that, and how did it look? Did the hardware stick out much? Thanks! |

I have the hardware (if I am thinking of the same thing you are) on the Matrix. I had no problems adjusting it to where I needed it to be. It did stick out some...but not to the point in getting in the way. That though is what added to the weight of the back.
I did not get it on the JSP, so the only thing I can do with the actual back is upwards and downwards adjustments. If I need to play with the angle, I have been successful with playing with the actual angle of the back canes to do what I need it to do. Good luck!

Thanks wheeliecoach. I probably should go ahead and get the MatRX Elite since my ins. will pay. If I was SURE I'd be better off with the J.S. I'd be willing to pay, but it's a lot! Just seems like someone would make a depth adjustable, lightweight, good looking back that doesn't cost a fortune. Don't know why they wanted to put those awful looking cutouts on the Elite. Thanks for "listening" to my fussing ramble.

i had a jay2 before the jetstream and do believe the jetstream is more shallow, the 10" anyways. i do have the adj. on the jetstream. it goes back far enough. just looks a lil bulky but its not in the way of anything. the new jay3 looks pretty comfy and adj. also. |

Thanks rollin64. Waiting for final decisions from DME about money/ins. If I get the MatRX paid for that's the way I'll go. This backs decision has been for the birds! If I KNEW the JetStream would be better for me I'd pay, but I'm just not convinced. Thanks for the help, everyone!
