I saw "The best of Men" the other night. I know Leif and Timaru have written about it before. It made me so happy I got my SCI in the sixties and not before.

Please, whatever you do, don't think that all West Virginians are like those in that movie! Those White's are always acting all uppity because they have indoor outhouses.
Seriously though, I wanna live elsewhere.

I watched that before. Dandy family. I use to know a lot of people just like that. Glad I got out of there.

Haha, dickhouse productions. The wonderful world of Knoxville keeps getting weirder. Where did he find these winners, I wonder? If he wants to come to KS I'll introduce him to 30 more.

I was starting to wonder about you Scott lol. Have you watched the movie? They're quite the colorful bunch. I think Johnny Knoxville is from the area, or is he from tennessee or kentucky.

![]() I don't know how Johnny Knoxville found them, but I wish he hadn't. (By the way, Johnny was born "Philip John Clapp" in Knoxville, TN.)

Robot & Frank
I just went to see Robot & Frank with Frank Langella, one of my favorite actors. He used to do a lot of legitimate theater here in San Diego, but lately has been busy on Broadway and with films.
This is a charming futuristic tale of a former jewel thief who lives in a rural area of upstate NY, and who is having problems with early dementia. His son buys him a personal robot to keep an eye on him and serve as his personal assistant. It is funny but also poignant. Also features Susan Sarandon (who should have been on screen more). One of the better films of the summer. (KLD) |

Trouble with the Curve
Got to see a sneak preview of this new Clint Eastwood (producer & lead actor) film directed by newcomer Robert Lorenz. Stars Eastwood and Amy Adams, Justin Timberlake, and John Goodman.
It is about an aging baseball scout who is loosing his vision to macular degeneration, but trying to hide this from his employers. Adams plays his daughter with who he has a rocky relationship. She agrees to go on a scouting trip with him to help him out at the urging of his best friend (Goodman). Timberlake plays a former pitcher with a blown out shoulder who Eastwood had at one time scouted, who is now working as a scout for a competing team following the same player Eastwood's character is scouting. A small role is filled by Scott Eastwood, Clint's son. I thought it was pretty well done, and would recommend it, esp. to baseball fans. Not quite as cynical about baseball as last year's "Moneyball". (KLD) |

What knocks this up a notch is the depth they added to the main character. Even his name would make this a spoiler. Ti? Might want to pull out Flowers for Algernon also. And yea! We love the Sundance Theater that is nearer the campus and around the lake from us. It gets the artsy flicks, first run choices first and has an adult aimed audience complete with a cup holder on each seat that their cardboard tray fits in that holds 2 drinks including beers and wines and a small, not gooey pizza, paninis or other small snacks so makes for great matinees at 4:30 and a dinner in 1 of 7 restaurants afterwards. I would rank Legacy up there with the first episode. Maybe above it a bit.
