Weird, I actually thought the American version was better for once!

We watched "The Departed" a few nights ago and liked it. The soundtrack was good too.

Went to see Melancholia this weekend and hated it. Pretentious, boring, and confusing. There was not a single character that I cared about. The only thing that was any good was the cinematography. Don't waste your money.

I also went to see Like Crazy which was a sweet film about young, naive love. It took me back to my own college days and first love. Not sure I liked the ending though. Go with someone you can talk about feelings with afterwards.

I didn't make it past the 5 minute mark of Melancholia. Worst 5 minute avant-garde poetry reading I have ever witnessed.

Just watched Aftershock. A Chinese movie about the 1976 earthquake to the present. I'm usually not into movies with subtitles and so much emotion that one can not help but tear up. But this is one of the 10 best movies I have ever seen. Its streaming on Net flicks, so give it a try, if it doesn't get to you your not human. The back ground was stunning.

My 8 year old grandson is on school vacation this week and wanted to see "Adventures of Tintin", so I took him this afternoon. My first time seeing a 3D movie, so that part was kinda cool, and I was surprised that I really enjoyed it. Hope that I don't become a kids movie junkie...

NL and I are as you say "kids movie junkies." We are totally infatuated with animation. It used to be that we had nieces and nephews to take to these films, but now they are all grown up...instead of waiting for grand nieces and nephews, we just go by ourselves. Our next door neighbor is a production director for Pixar and we got a Christmas card from them with images of Pixar's newest (not yet released) animated film "Brave." Can't wait!!!

Just saw Midnight in Paris (MIP) and Margin Call...Netflix account.
We are big Woody Allen fans and enjoyed MIP. We really liked Margin Call too (can we say Lehman Brothers circa 2007/2008).

All the best,
GJ

We watched "The Help" on X-Mas eve. The book was much better. My niece got it as a gift and wanted to watch it.

I saw the Norwegian movie from the book of Jo Nesbø, I think it is called the Headhunters in English.

It is funny because Jo Nesbø is famouse here from singing in a band called Di Derre and they play my 15-years old son's favorite song about girls who are coming and girls who are leaving. I still don't understand he writes those books. The park and the street is not more than 10 minutes away from my house.

Insidious ... I couldn't sleep last night and it was on tv (I bought myself the extra movie channels just before Christmas for four months through the upcoming foot surgery).

I know it sounds silly but it really scared the hell out of me. Like, Exorcist style. It 'stays' with you.

I thought it was just going to be another Hollywood silly and not scary movie that they have been pumping out lately ... but nope, I was wrong. lol
