I'm waiting for some software testing to wrap up in India. An early happy 4th, everyone!

I was in the neighbor's pool again yesterday for about two hours. What fun! I used the time to do a lot of resistance work, marching, kicking, etc. It was really hot here, low 100s, and the water was very warm. By the time I got out of the pool, I couldn't feel my feet at all. I had to walk down a grassy hill from the pool area and had trouble not turning my ankles. Next time, I'll wear hiking boots to the pool. Won't be the first time I've looked a little weird.

Pbryant, impressive leg presses! How did the wedding go?

Revis, that looks like fun. We'll be going fishing in a few weeks for walleye, bass and pan fish. Can't wait! Good job with pushing the hike distance. I'm sure it's very tiring but look at the distances you can go now. Seems like good progress to me.

Truly Great job getting a great workout in the pool. You exemplify what an exercise oriented group we have here. Lots of folks wound just kick back in the pool, instead of getting the best workout they can get, in any given situation. And have fun doing it. Speaking of a fun workout....

Revis sounds like you had a great time working out, while getting the big one.

Jett Its great that you have figured out a way to ride your one-off with less that perfect arm strength. Its looks a little uncomfortable to ride on of those bikes. How does it feel?

Steve garro That sure looks like fun, chilling out on the river.

Well I'm still trying to learn how to walk. Not walking any farther, but am doing different things. This is how it gos in my head, (keep your knee bent a little when you step down on your leg, make sure to turn your foot strait forward, pull as hard as you can with your out side muscles to keep your hips straight, pick up with quads and pull up with hamstrings to keep from scraping your feet on the ground, and pick up the pace. Lot of work for a little walking, at least the upper body knows where to put the canes without thinking about it. Someday maybe I will be like Arndog, and not have to think about it so much.

I woke up this morning and decided to ditch the walker for the cane. Haven't ventured out with it yet, but have been pretty steady around the house. Even after my bike ride. My daughter ran alongside of me so we shortened up due to the heat.

Flying- I agree. That is what I spend most time thinking about. Besides just decided to stay on my feet longer and longer is a great work out.

Arndog- I saw a video of you with those sidestix on another thread. That was agreat video. Got me thinking about those things. They are pretty expensive, but you can't put a price on that kind of mobility. Do you think the snow attachments would work on the beach? It's a similiar surface.

Truly- Pools are like boats. It's better to have a good friend with one than to have one yourself. I too take advantage of my friend's pool. Pool therapy is fantastic. While I am waiting for a wave I try to do things in the ocean but the current just moves my legs here and there. In the pool I have total control and a soft landing.

Have happy 4th. I'm sure everyone will keep busy.

Handcycle - 3000 ft climb on pavement up Blackwood Canyon Pass out of Northwest Lake Tahoe. Did the pass twice to end up with that amount of climbing. Handcycled with Mark Wellman. Can't ride with the other 2 Reno hand cyclist - one is Will Lochenauer who is unarguably the fastest H2 ride in the US right now and the other is also 10 times faster than me.

395 - next week Tioga Pass once the 4th of July-ers leave? Hopefully on a weekday to also limit the number of cars.

Good job y'all and happy Independence Day for those from the USA.

arn- good to see you killin it with the force r. i love mine. ive been staying tight on my program. train on the bike 3x week, lift 4 days and cardio 5 days. lots of overlap. in season i do lighter weight more reps. keeps me from any injuries.
we do our longest rides on satyurdays. 30 plus. in this heat its tough because i dont sweat. my wife keeps me soaked with ice water and i drink every bit of a 100oz camelbak. i mix gu electrolyte brew with gu roctane powder. about 3 to 1 electrolyte brew. really helps. you pee alot but thats a good thing.

i've been fencing since october. been gaining some core muscles(!!!), lost some of my belly and am more flexible as well. since the summer started, i fence 5x a week. now i just need to ramp up my cardio as competitions start in december. endurance is my weak point!

Pbryant, you did GREAT! I loved your tribute to Bryce, as well. He must be one of the guys we see assisting you on your videos. It's wonderful to have such a good friend for such a long time. I've been seeing your improvement from the sidelines. You've come such a long way. Keep up the good work! It will pay off.

Flying, oh my, I totally understand your description of walking. For me, it's take a step, remember to keep the foot straight, don't drop the toe, tighten the hip...balance..balance...balance...okay, now, do the next one. No one understands this but us members of the 'club'.

I've a new workout scheme these days. I count workouts in 20-minute segments. An hour on the treadmill equals three cardio sessions. I'm also working towards doing strength and flexibility sessions, too. I find it's easier for me to work 20 minutes into the day, here and there, than try to stuff everything into the few hours I have after work. I also feel more motivated because if all I can manage is 20 minutes in a day...well, that's 20 minutes. They add up by the end of the week. Weird how a slight change in perspective can make such a big difference.

A few motivational goals are on the horizon...a train trip to Texas with my mom, a family vacation to the Grand Canyon and a wedding in Atlanta, all within the next 8 months. Even more reason to get as strong as possible..so I can enjoy all these things to their fullest.

Yep, that's what it's about, enjoying it all, no matter what. Keep your faces to the sun, everyone!
