Went to swim practice this morning, Pretty solid hour, 300 yards of it pulling with the drag chute.
Steve, I attached a photo of my one-off water crossing. Have a hard time imagining myself doing this with another foot of water like you are describing! |

Walked 1.3 miles on the forest bike trail. Was a lot harder today since there wasn't a good place to rest and 80 degrees. Had visions of the Bataan Death March at one point until I called myself up short. Those people were pows, starving, in the heat of the Philippines. I guess my hike was no where near that but sure was tiring. Will try something different tomorrow.

Jett and Steve That looks like way to much water to me. What can I say, but you guys are animals. But it does look like fun.
Truly Way to go with all that walking. Do you start to panic, if theres no place to rest. And how can it be 80 degrees in Wisconsin this time of year. Folks out in there shorts and tank tops alrighty. Went all the way over to the pool to try out my new rangus rs floats. But there was a swim meet going on, that superseded the lap swim. The nerve. So came home and road my indoor bike for 1.2 hours.

I got back in the racing chair today. Man, I've got to lose 5 pounds! I was squished in there like nobody's business.

Been walking as much as possible outside, making the most of this incredible weather. Today, I walked three stints for 1.17 miles, total. I was working so could only get out early morning and then again after work. I even came home through the forest which is kind of a dicey trail, lots of roots, rocks and very hilly. Took some time and I was pooped. But now that I know I can do it, how long do you think it'll be before I try it again? Ha! Tomorrow if I can! Next time I'm out, I'll take a snap of our hilly back yard so you know what I'm talking about.

I'm impressed how you are continuing to push out with more miles, especially over uneven ground. That adds a lot to the workout. But, stay upright! You're making good progress! Good to read about all of the activities the rest of you guys are doing. Keep it up. Our weather is the opposite of most everyone east of the Rockies. Below average temps and lots of precip. I think we've had 9 days of rain out of the last 10. There have been some sun breaks. However, this morning started out with an inch of snow on the ground. More snow coming tomorrow. Wish I was still able to ski the pow; maybe someday. There's loads of snow in the mountains. Walked 2 miles yesterday with some short jogs in the mix (.15 mile each X 4). Today went to the gym to work upper body and legs on the machines. Did planks at home afterwards. Feet are burning, but not twitching.

Arndog, yes life = good. I'm glad you had a good day skiing and appreciate the reminder that life is good and well worth the effort it now takes to live it well. Flying, you must get a kayak. I think you'd really enjoy it and it sounds like you have water close by. Between your hand cycle and kayaking, you wouldn't have time to even remember that you have SCI. |

I haven't been on here much lately but I raced the World Paracycling Track Champs in LA in February and came away with 2 silver, a bronze and a nice 10cm long splinter through the thigh! I was actually really disappointed with my times (medals and podiums depend on what others do - times are more my measure of how I'm going) and left wondering if its the start of the end as I'm not getting any younger. Fortunately a short rest and a bit of R&R and I'm feeling more positive again and back in training 3-4 hrs a day+ for the paralympics.
