I am 16 months post. I still do PT/OT several days a week and go to an adaptive gym or workout at home. The ains and changes have slowed but not stopped. Keep at the workout, work on moving what you can, stretch, and keep trying something new. I am C4/5 walking quad. Still have a caregiver to help with B & B and transportation.

3.5hrs on the one-off on singletrack. Hard - I'm cooked. Broke my chest steering cable for the third time in 6+yrs - take an extra brake cable with you out there, folks - buy the "tandem length" ones.
You can also steal your rear brake cable and use it for the steering, I've done that - but, just bring one, huh? Trails are killer right now!

Truly, you're continuing to progress. Congrats to you. I love how determined you are. Keep it up, and keep reporting. I enjoy every picture you put up, Steve. Keep them coming. You are able to ride in such beautiful country. Cajun, have you been able to continue mountain biking this winter? Forecasters are saying that snow is going to hammer us starting this Sunday and through the rest of next week. Will have to go to the gym to walk, I suppose. I might get out and snow shoe if we get dumped on.

harmonica for lungs
The workouts I did this past week included 40 minutes pushing at a good clip at the mall; 2 days of 10 minute fast pushes indoors around KMart; one 40 minute push on an outdoor paved trail @38 degrees; twice for 20 minutes used hand free weights and "theraband" for biceps, shoulder and wrist strengthening; 12 minutes of lung exercise using harmonica and recorder.
I know it doesn't seem like much but I recently turned 70, and paralyzed from chest down from Polio for 62 years. It's SO important to keep exercising and moving! |

Hi triumph
Sounds like pretty good exercise to me. I've only been on a 10 mile hand cycle ride, because I'm just starting to feel better. Its been a hard withdrawal from gabapentin. These drugs are very strong, and hard to get off of. (Tremadal was even harder). One more to go, blood thinners. How do you all feel about taking days off from exercise. Do you think that its beneficial. In my early 30s I was a weekend warrior triathaleet. Unemployed for three months, so decided to train like the big boys. 60 mile bike ride with local clubs AM. Run 10 miles at a 7 minute mile pace during the day, then one hour at the masters swim program at night. There was a lot of talk about how much time to take off. Most pros took one day a week off of training. Just wondering if thats about right in our situation. Because of my forced days off I do feel stronger.
