Awesome to hike in the mountains, arndog!
I've joined a gym that has good equipment for a para including standing frames, motorized leg bike, fes bike, machines.
Tomorrow I go for intro session with trainer.
I also got a Rx for getting started on a fes bike with a PT.
Just another attempt to get myself moving.
I am working at a farm using my arms and hands all day processing vegetables for market.
But, still no hand cycle!
I'm learning about managing money in a course. A big part of it is saving up for things like handcycles!

If you cannot currently afford to buy a handcycle on your own, you could consider applying to get one through the Challenged Athletes Foundation. http://www.challengedathletes.org/

Missed this post before. Hope you had a good time in the Eastern Sierra.

I'm looking forward to riding the trails at Mammoth next season. The bike park is closed for this season.... which means ski season is one the way!!!

Still plan on riding the One Off some more before it gets to cold though.

I've been riding the handcycle on the trainer in the garage for at least one hour, 3-4 nights a week. Tonight I did a solid 1.5 hrs on the trainer plus stength training.

Got a weight bench and some dumb bells for the garage instead of going to the gym and have been doing a lot more strength training since getting this setup.

I'm doing the Long Beach Marathon on my handcycle in about a month. I'm not much of a racer but it is just one more thing to keep me on my fitness routine.

Sounds like everyone is getting amongst it! I guess your weather is changing again so make the most of it. We have just had our first nice week in ages and its been lovely getting out riding early without having to rug up. Crunch time at uni for me - 3 months till I have to submit my PhD so life is pretty dull at the moment - writing, riding and gym. Hopefully I can keep my sanity intact to the finish line LOL.

Environmental Science. I spent almost 20 years working in water quality, river and wetland health and water allocations (hydrological modelling). My PhD is trying to model (ie build a computer simulation model that can be used to run different scenarios of river flow-flooding and climate) a large inland wetland system using time series of satellite imagery. So basically I've stitched together satellite images from every 16 days for over 15 years and then calculated the 'greeness' of the vegetation and related that back to the inflows, flooding and climate.
The wetlands (over 100km long and 50km wide when in full flood) are located on the downstream end of a regulated river system which has a massive dam in the headwaters and irrigation (cotton mainly) in the lower reaches. So trying to juggle how much water gets to the wetlands and how much goes to irrigation is tricky (especially when there isn't a lot of water to share).
Unfortunately my injury came after I started the PhD so its been a little interrupted and I couldn't really do the amount of field work I would have like... and then the cycling stuff happened so that slowed things down as well.
