Check out the results from the recent paracycling world cup to get an idea of the range of speeds the elites get up to. (H4 is kneelers, H3 and H2 para's and H1 quads I think). http://www.uci.ch/templates/UCI/UCI5...U4ODc&LangId=1
To give you an idea of the spread from my own experience (talking single bike time trials but you get the drift) an elite female on a flat course may average over 45 km/hr in a 20km race down to maybe a 30km/hr target for a newer/older/more social rider at club level. I might average close to 40 in a time trial race, but out for a two hour training ride on my own its more like 25-30 (depending on terrain). |

Raced in a national series race (tour actually with 4 races in 3 days)against the elite girls on the weekend and surprised myself. Had a goal for a few years now to get within 10% of the winners time and finally did it YAH!! Its nice to see all the hard work paying off (still bloody hard work up those hills though and it was absolutely freezing all weekend!)

I'm on the right in blue. Below is from the time trial (wet and freezing as well, the bare legs weren't a good idea as I cramped quite badly in my 'good' calf). You can probably see that I do a lot of pulling up with my good leg as well as pushing down and I tend to get very 'toey' on that side which makes me cramp a lot worse.

I did 16 miles at June Lake on Friday and 20 in Mammoth Lakes today, on the handcycle. All at over 7000 feet of elevation. I think my cardio fitness has been improving quite a bit.

Nice Garro and 395, L2R, Bailey and all.
I have been armbiking in Truckee. 2.5 hr loop with 2700 ft climbing in Tahoe Donner. I love climbing for some reason. No aerodynamics involved which I don't have in my upright position. |
