11 mile ride with the Venus de Miles cycling club here in Boulder. I'm trying to do more rides with able-bodied cyclists - I want to work on logistics for longer rides, and have a better understanding of my speed differential and what I can do about it.

52 miles on the handcycle yesterday. First 26 in about 2:45 then a lunch break and a little slower pace in the afternoon. Feeling fine today except for lower back pain.

Steve and Adrian... you should start a kayaking thread. I'd be very interested. Mostly lakes and rivers for me but it is all good.

lol no, I've been gifted with high metabolism and lean muscle so I only need to work out 45 minutes every other day to keep my body cut looking. I use to be a meatheat and was at the gym 2 hours a day everyday but I don't want to get huge anymore. I just like looking cut.

I think I may get into hand cycling though because I don't do any cardio and love the outdoors but I have a feeling I'll lose too much weight unless I eat a ton which is also something I don't like doing. I didn't realize I talked about getting in shape? I believe I already am in shape or at least look it from the outside and my workouts aren't anything new, its just routine I've been doing since I was a child.

Also the getting pulled around thing was suppose to be sarcastic but I guess it doesn't go over well when you type it.

I did have a question about hand-cycling though, how often do you take breaks? My main concern in pressure sores and also I have chronic pain so even sitting in my wheelchair hurts like crazy so I can imagine a hand cycle being equally sucky but I'm use to it so would still like to give it a try. I was thinking even if you did take a break your sitting sitting aren't you?

Steve,
I paddle an Avocet by Valley, the yellow boat in the picture below:

I am T10 complete, and I have adapted my boat specifically to my needs. I will post pictures of my adaptions sometime, possibly in a kayaking thread. The picture below is from my recent trip to to the Channel Islands, I am the paddler closest to the camera:

16 miles on the C&O Canal towpath on a regular unsprung mountain bike. It was in the low 90's. Rode part of the way with family. When I got by myself, I surprised myself with the ability to kick it up a little, I was trying to channel the amazing feats of Arndog and Steve Garro. I am ashamed that I did all of this near sea level...

Average heart rate 152. I bumped along for quite awhile in the 160's.

I have to start riding further. I would really like to ride a century in September. Toying around with getting a cyclocross bike. I am a roadie at heart, but I now need 3 chainrings and am riding away from traffic for safety reasons.
