Arndog, you're the second person to comment on the Kaweahs, so I think maybe you're right I'm not really sure.

I'd last been up to Alta via Pear Lake in Jan. 2007, about 7 months before my injury. I wasn't sure how I'd do this time, but it worked out. I remember the Hump trail over the Watchtower to Heather Gap being very tiring, and it certainly was this time. The first time I did Alta was in Dec. 2004 via the gully on the south side, which I attempted post-injury a couple of times without success.

That trans-Sierra trip must have been great !

I went to the first Boulder EXPAND track practice of the year. Wow, racing wheelchair steering is hard. I have to crawl home and die now.

No, the one with the single wheel is leading and winning, not same speed! Imagine, one wheel beats four. Not good, more proteins for you, meaning more cod filets and cows to eat. Cause you lost, really.

Great job everyone. Leif, I have difficulty following your logic that Steve Garro lost and is not good because he is 15 feet behind the able bodied unicyclist on a 4 hour mountain bike ride. Didn't know it was a race.
Today - 2 hour nordic sitski, 36th day of the season, full on winter conditions.
Yesterday - 6 hour crutch snowshoe trip - 9 miles, 2500 ft climbing. I went with an AB guy on skis and to equalize our speeds, he carried a 40 lb pack ( for exercise). Great day. But I lost and was bad I guess because he was still faster. What a great day we had. I guess it beats hitting the sauce and feeling angry at happier people and sorry for myself simultaneously !

Awesome Arndog!

I'm tempted to try the Nordic sitski but just finally tried alpine skiing. I'm hooked. Gravity rules! I'll ski until I can't lift myself onto the chair lift anymore. Time to shop for a mono-ski rig for next season.

I'm 48 and just now figured out that snow is actually good for something.

You HAVE to ski tomorrow. You are getting 2 feet of fluff tonight. Most of the storm is going south of Tahoe and hitting you {jealously} . I am going to PM you about mono ski rigs......

here I am continuing my loosing streak on O'leary Peak, a lava dome in the San Francisco volcanic field in which i live. it is a 2,000ft vertical ascent on loose cinders the entire way { I used to ride it on my Mtn bike }. i made it to within 800ft vertical of the summit before getting turned back by mud, {see the red stuff - clay} 50mph winds & total fatigue. ride distace = 9mi. hard stuff, man! i'll be back for the 1st ever handcycle ascent after a rain, it would make a huge difference on the cinders, this is where they tested the moon landers in the 60's. - good to have a project! You would like walking up this, Arndog. - Garro.
