Reynolds Price, "A whole new life"
I know I have recommended this book in my po?˘inning author, Reynolds Price, who got a spinal cord tumor and ended up T6 complete. So this great writer chronicles his experience with the medical profession and what it is like to become paralyzed. He then discusses his struggles with central pain and that is where the book has such meaning for me. He eloquently describes what it is like to have such pain and his struggle to get control of his life again.
I recommend this book to anyone who has struggled from chronic neuropathic/ central pain and really to anyone to see how a previously noted author deals with this change in his life. There are some amazing recommendations at the end of the book for us and from participating in this forum, it won't be anything new for you. But it had a huge impact on me as I was struggling with pain management and the instantaneous change in my life from my accident. Let me know if you liked it ! Jon |

I love Reynolds Price. When I read this book some years ago I was surprised he had endured what he had and had joined our ranks. I had not known. I'd gotten the book because I'd known it was his and was a great fan based on what I'd known of him previously.
No doubt about it, this is an excellent book. I love how his friends rallied around him and helped no matter what was happening. |

I had it as book on tape and enjoyed the author reading to me for a couple of nights. I wish the socalled pain specialists would read that book too and direct us to the right places for bio/neurofeedback and hypnotherapy. I have a hard time finding it. It's great encouragement though.
