$.02

I would hope that everyone involved is going after all their contacts whether they be personal or organizations. I have already sent to about 1000 stepnow members. I also sent to many sci related organizations in different countries and many of the veterans chapters, other patient organizations and anyone I can think of. But in many cases I am sending to general email addresses so who knows if it goes through or just goes to spam. However I'll re-send again soon now that the holidays are over.
Leif and Thomas are getting listing in their national SCI magazines and hopefully others will do that to.
The main thing is to keep sending the petition link out - keep coming up with new targets each week. If we overlap I don't think it's a problem - it just shows that we mean business.

I was just a bit grumpy and sad that such and idea actually emerged naturally in my head, I just past the 1 calendar year marker, so bear with me - I think the pic we already have is great!
@Chaz - you're absolutely right and if anyone in here has those contacts that would be great if they were contacted - I have personally gotten a hold of the main (only) Danish SCI organization, that will help a huuge bit but any larger org in the US and elsewhere would really magnify this.
@Carbar Hope you're having a good 09' so far.. I was thinking - we need to get Patricks and Neo together, or at least find out what to do with the homepage now?
I would love to help work out something!!

Hi Thomas,
Please be informed that in Denmark PTU also organizes spinal cord injured peoples aside of RYK. http://www.ptu.dk/rygmarvsskade/

Nice Leo.
I know that there are some members here who are involved with the bigger organizations who post anonymously, it would be great to know if some stuff is going on behind the scenes.
I will try to write some e-mails later on this week as well.

a baby would bring tears....but, an "older" grandfather/mother image about the sadness of having spent their entire life in a chair is a tear jerker too...I copied most of the following changing to make it more personal and have gotten a lot of reposts on my space and an email to my friends is started...wish I knew who created the original, it was hearbreaking...

New Year’s Resolutions…
1. This year I am going to stop worrying about anything that won’t matter in 5 years…
2. The same annual “gotta stop doing” stuff that for me might last a month or so…
3. Saving money? What money is left with the economy we’re in……
4. Instead I am committed to spend my new year actually making a difference …
5. To make life more meaningful to those - like my son - who suffer from a Spinal Cord Injury…
6. An injury that robs those injured of so much of what we all just take for granted…
7. I will raise AWARNESS about the devastating injury and the petition…
8. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/sig...-cord-research
9. So that someday soon a CURE will be on the horizon…
10. Won’t you please take a moment to sign…and ask your friends to sign…
11. I wish to be a part of knowing I did everything I could to make a difference…
12. And oh, Please don’t drink and drive! You could put someone in a wheelchair for life…or send them to their grave… THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REPOSTING…turning this into an e-mail and passing it on would be good too! Judy aka www.myspace.com/madmaddmother

Great. I believe PTU organises both polio victims, peoples injured in traffic accidents and spinal cord injured peoples. Many SCI’ed in Denmark are organized in PTU and also at the same time in RYK, I believe. Apropos RYK. Did you see their last magazine? At page 11 there is an interview with a new SCI professor (clinician) at an SCI unit, where he is asked the question “Will we walk again?” The professor answered, “No, not in my lifetime, it is quite frankly to complicated.” And that’s all the comments there is for research. What? How can he say that, how can he know that it is just too complicated to happen in his lifetime? He’s also not a neurobiologist, but a clinician. And what about incompletes that just need a little "push" by research for acute stages in the future to not end up in these chairs in the future? But maybe he’s not the one actually to blame, but more the person who did the interview and wrote the article. Anyway, it made me a lill pi%%ed.
