Do you want children?

Right now, I can't imagine having kids. In addition to their brattiness and loudness, I just don't think it would be fair to them. I hardly have any energy to get through a day and I can't take care of myself independently, how much would I be able to give them? I don't even know if I have the energy for a full grown man 24/7! Who knows what the future will bring though?

Like you, I can't imagine throwing kids into my equasion, but I want them badly.Prior to my accident I never wanted them. Then I had a job that required a lot of me and it was my life, I also had a bad marriage. Well, now the career is out the door and the marriage is much much better, however my husband still doesn't want them which blows my mind because he is wonderful with kids of all ages! I'm gonna work on him thoughI know I don't want to physically have a child and preferably would like to skip those unindependant years and adopt a child around five. Most of my step nieces and nephews are around that age and I think I can handle 'em pretty well once they are potty trained and all. I tire pretty easily too . I have a pretty busy Friday and Saturday for the most part and those are my only late late nights, but by Sunday I don't want to get out of the bed!lol. I wonder about energy for a full time child and my luck I'd end up with a brat! IDK girl,we'll see.

And yes, the full time man requires a lot of time and energy!Thank God for work though!

You didn't finish the question. I want children...to leave me alone.
Seriously though, how much would you be able to give them? All your love is a good start. I understand about the lack of energy. I have three rug rats that run me crazy, and I have a wife to take some of the abuse. I can have an absolute horrible day, and when I come in the door and one of them comes running for a hug, it makes it all better.
Your own children are nice, but nieces/nephews can be better. Love'em, spoil'em, send'em home.

Not voting here, since I have kids,(pre sci) and they are almost grown. I am not sure how some people manage (I am thinking Emi, with 2 little ones especially) but I can't imagine my life w/o them.

I know it is harder to find adoptive homes for children (as opposed to babies.) So there are definitely children needing homes. Might be a really good option.

Not a problem but you may have trouble adopting a kid older than you.

We have one now and are trying for one more. It's not been bad with SCI. I really thought it would be more difficult! I've found keeping up with a two and a half year old to be more about the art of distraction and creative ideas to keep her busy then about what I can't do.

I don't want a kid unless maybe there is a girl who already has one.
