World's heaviest man to wed Oct. 26 in Mexico

Quote:

MONTERREY, Mexico - The world's most obese man is getting hitched.

Manuel Uribe says he will wed longtime girlfriend Claudia Solis on Oct. 26 in Monterrey, Mexico. The two will be married in a civil ceremony at a location still to be decided.

Uribe is unable to walk, and leaving his house means being towed through the streets on his specially made bed.

This year the Guinness Book of World Records declared Uribe, who tipped the scales at 1,230 pounds in 2006, the world's heaviest man.

I say congratulations. It gives hope to all of those who are either disabled or overweight.

It always amused me how a huge man like this stays this big. Those around him he is totally dependent on for survival simply continue to bring this man thousands of calories he needs daily to maintain his size.
Loosing that much weight is definitely an accomplishment. The excess skin has to be enormous and will require surgery to remove.
Unfortunately the guy's heart is probably so enlarged surviving to an old age is most likely not possible.

ya this guy is actually on a diet and excersice program and has lost over 300lbs and does it all in his bed. its the other people who are on oxygen and eat 20000 cal a day and just continue to do the same that kill me. Everytime I go out and I see obese people who are in a wheelchair cause the choose piss me off. I'm not in mine by choice. They get handicap placards and use the rascals and auto chairs. These are the people who need to park in the back of the parking lot and have manuel chairs. I say good for this guy and piss on lazy people. its always made me mad but now it just makes it burn even worse.

Not every overweight person who's in a wheelchair is in the wheelchair because they're overweight. Not everyone who's overweight is lazy. Please remember this before you jump to conclusions about people.

Interesting opinions.

When I saw this thread, I was afraid it'd become a place to come bash people who struggle with their weight.

I thought I heard he passed away? A heart complication? Lemme check on that.

I hope not. He is setting a great example by losing weight and actually getting a life. And he's lost 500 pounds, not 200, by going on some special diet and moving his arms around.
