Corsets for female

Has any female SCI had a specially made corset? If so, which doctor did you see to get it done? Our rehab doctor said they hadn't dealt with something like that. My daughter, c5 c6 wants to not have a sagging of the abdomen and quad belly. Not interested in ab exercises, have already tried to get her to use Wii playing tennis or something to get her body burning more calories. Any info about corsets would be great. Did google search and can only find lingerie type corset. I don't think this would give her any support in her back.
Has an abdominal binder w/steel bending stays, but it rolls up on sides and back and caused rubbing on her back.

Abdominal binders is all I know about.
I use to wear a lingerie stretch girdle that was real good.
Do you want to hide the belly or support the back?
Good luck!

Both. Keeps the "girls" as my daughter calls them, not laying on abdomen and gets rid of quad belly. One of her quad friends had one made at hospital in Colorado and her friend said it really helps her back.

Mona on wheels: How's the electrical exercise device working on ab muscles?

All I can say then is find that hospital,
or talk to a professional seamstress, or try 2 different items.
One for belly & one for the top.

I still don't have it!
It's been approved and I keep hearing it's on it's way.
But I'll post when I start on it.
Thanks for asking.

A "hundred" years ago when I was injured they measured me for a corset. It was heavy cotton and stays. Hooks and loops fastened it up. It fit snuggly from my high hip to my chest, sort of flaring out just below my breasts. It gave tons of support but was so confining and uncomfortable! I don't think they put folks in these any more. I got mine at Warm Springs Rehab in GA when I was injured. So I know what you're talking about but don't know where you might get it. Sorry to be no more help.

Contact a place that makes braces & artificial limbs. They should be able to make your daughter a corset. You will probably need a prescription from her doctor for one. I know of one company I believe is nationwide & that is Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics.
Let me know please how you make out.

Adi, sometimes you are tragic. In Norway all the tetraplegic have a corset, don't you have one? You need one for stability when you are out wheeling you know.

Wink Corsets for Females

Thanks for all inputs.

Note to Adi: if my daughter could she would hit you. Not nice especially if that woman sees her photo posted for everyone to see at CareCure.

My daughter, Sam has a quad friend that had one specially made for her at the hospital in Colorado.

mona~on~wheels: Keep bugging them about your exercise device.

Mine was called a binder but it helps quads breathe better, keeps the blood pressure up and holds in the gut too. How do people escape rehab without one. They are standard issue in the US also. But then Adi would be able to sit up straight and breath.
