AKO--Thanks for the wishes!
About the IVC page--it was started by Noah who is a member here. http://carecure.org/forum/member.php?u=4808 Haven't had an update in a while, but maybe now that the holidays are over he'll be making an update soon. kate--About your question about the cure--That is such awfully scary ground for me. It's like I want to hope, but I know better than to hope in our case. My relative was injured in 1989 at 18, complete injury, lots of damage to almost the entire thoracic spine that was not repaired. One part of me wants to accept the likely reality that a cure for someone in his condition is not going to happen in his lifetime, so that I can stop feeling that longing, hurting feeling that hope gives me. Another part of me wants to hold out for even the tiniest glimmer of light, even if I can't SEE the glimmer, I want to believe it's there. Obie--do you honestly think I'm going to come to your bank and let them play with what's left of my mind? LOL!! If I do though, I'll ask for you specifically because I know you will protect me! Oh and I've figured out how to get past ANY automated telephone system. Instead of using the prompts and hoping you'll get a person, you just sit there and don't press anything--eventually the system will roll you over to a person. So HA! You banking people cannot foil my plot to take over the world one bank at a time! Primal screaming--I do it in the car when no other cars are around--so no one can see me! It's almost as liberating as breaking things!shelley--you are not alone in feeling like you are losing your mind some days. Sometime I lose my mind and don't find it for days! You aren't alone in that. It's okay to vent. If I didn't vent, I'd explode!roshni--I like that, "let go, let God". I'm sorry for your losses this past year. I've lost so many loved ones in the past few years that my whole concept of what "My Life" is, has changed so much. I never realized how much my life is defined by the presence of the people in it. Now that so many of them are gone, and some of them are "going", it's really hitting home and I feel like I've entered some strange, empty land. I'm sure I'll be able to carve a new "My Life" out of it, but it's kind of scary right now. So, thanks for the reminder, that no matter what, God is someone that is a constant presence that CAN'T be lost.

Kate--do you guys like Sarah McLoughlin...um, spelled sumthin' like that...? I like Indigo Girls, too--and the classics, ta-da...but a friend gave me a SG tape a few years ago and I fell! She's got the greatest voice...and good songs.
We've been SOOOOOOOO caught up with Jake's issues these last few weeks that I've been focused on getting through the day, so haven't been wandering around CC as much, but I like this thread, too. It's fun. A lot of spontenaity and you don't feel like you forgot what the subject was--heh! People can have their chats and jump around...feels kinda like a laid-back dinner party with friends. Cool! Hope the year is off to a good start for everyone, and may all bank balances add up this year! Man, I was going to come upstairs and get on-line, like, an hour ago, then saw that Jake was awake after I visited with the nurse in the kitchen for a few minutes...ended up taking him off the vent 'cause he wanted 'up'...he desatted for about a half-hour! That doesn't happen often! We took turns bagging him until I finally went and woke Bob up and asked him to pitch in for a few minutes...check the equipment...and as soon as he walked into the room, Jake's sats went up to about 96 and bingo--suctioned out a plug, and no more of all that! Now he's pretty contented, awake, and the nurse will be leaving in about 15 minutes, so I have to go back downstairs and take over until Josh comes at eight. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow morning I can stay awhile and visit. Happy MLK Day! |

Saw Sarah MacLachlin in concert in Lilith Fair a couple of years ago. She is a vibrant live performer! I love her haunting voice and think she - and Tori Amos - could sing the phone book and it would still be breathtaking.
Anyway, keep having these dreams about taking tests in school. And I'm passing these tests with flying colors!!! It will be neat to see what this translates into in waking life. Last edited by roshni; 01-16-2006 at 12:36 PM. |

Roshni--I suggest you sleep through the tests in waking life! Heh!
Tori Amos sings like an angel, but I always held my breath hoping that she would write something beyond venting. I know, I know...we need to vent, to get it out...but...well, I listen to great songs over and over, and I had the same reaction to Janis J wearing me down with pain and angst. Love her voice, her performance, all...but...a little gloom and pity goes a long, long way. Still, I love those women's art. Lucky you, SM (aaarghh! not SG!) live! I saw Tracey Chapman at the Gorge in Eastern Washington, as an opener for Bob Dylan. Quite a show, with the sun setting behind the stage over the Columbia River! |

Bobbyg,
The absolute best concert I saw was the "Face to Face" tour put on by Elton John and Billy Joel. On stage were 2 grand pianos "face to face" and these two artists absolutely rocked Giants Stadium! The second best concert I saw was Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Giants Stadium. It felt like all of New Jersey was in agreement that evening with a "Welcome home, Bruce" banner hanging overhead. Oh and as far as Tori is concerned, I lOVE "Tear in Your Hand". I have to admit that I have missed Tori's latest work. I actually have to admit that I just got the Beatles White Album for Christmas in CD and listened to it, finally--whew! Really took me back...our nurse came in this morning and I told him that Jake slept all night last night, and he said, "So that's why you're having a party in the kitchen?" Heh! (I was actually dancing, and I'm OLD these days!)
I think I'll go down later this week and get a new CD of Tori's. People grow, especially through their music! I think I was connecting with some very early music in terms of my own youthful angst, looking for a hand-up! You saw Elton John and Billy Joel!?! Oh my God!!! Now I'm gonna have to buy concert tickets for something--you've got me inspired! Bob and I lived in the woods for a few years recently, didn't get out much! Now we're back on the West Coast, there are places we can go...though I did miss Emmylou at an outdoor venue in Eastern WA because the tickets were, like, a hundred dollars or something we didn't have. I stayed home and played my O Brother CD. |

Bobbyg,
The album to get is "Little Earthquakes" by Tori Amos. And, check out the "Best Albums of All Time" thread in the Life forum. |

Thanks, R! Today is Jake's outpatient pre-op for Monday, and I could really use some good new music at the moment! Great idea!!! "Little Earthquakes" it is!

I've been at carecure for going on 2 years now and I have never once waded into this thread. I think the sheer length of it intimidated me! But I read a few pages of it, realized I didn't have to read EVERY post to jump in, so here I am.
With regards to an old post .. my favorite is "he's as sharp as a circle". Unfortunately, I find many occassions to say this in my life, lol!

Zillazangel,
While "he's as sharp as a circle" is good, I've heard an even more descriptive one: "he's one fry short of a Happy Meal." Last edited by roshni; 01-18-2006 at 07:43 PM. |
