Test Results Question

BUN=17
Creatinine=0.7
Bun/Creatinine Ratio=25
My urologist tells me everything is normal and there is nothing
to worry about. SCI Nurse or Dr. Wise, can you tell me what these
results indicate? Are they bad. The ratio is slightly above normal. The creatinine is slightly below normal. I do have
kidney stones in left kidney and a bladder stone which is coming
out on Monday.Kidney stones will be left in place for now until
further testing is conducted. Thanks.

Hi,

I agree with your urologist that these results are very good and there is no need to be concerned. I have included this site which explains this as well. Your glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is excellent and that is a very good indicator of kidney function.

As you have had done, it is also important to get kidney ultrasound yearly to check the structure of the kidney and collecting system.
