Do you cath overnight?
How long do you (can you) go overnight without cathing?
Do you keep your usual every 4-6 hours schedule, as recommended, if you are fortunate enough not to be forced to cath more frequently? Or do you sacrifice some caths for sleep? |

I produce a lot more urine overnight so sacrificing cathing isn't an option.
I normally cath about 3 times in 8 hours and my output is always higher first thing in the morning. At least 3 caths between 7.30am and midday. It slows down after that to 3 between 1pm and 9pm. Always felt in rehab that the every 4 hours thing was to suit nurses not me but I recognise now that some people need a schedule for convenience.

For me, sacrificing caths for sleep is not an option. I am likely to have a pounding headache (AD) and/or pee myself if I ignore the signs of a full bladder.
Last night I had to cath 3 times in the night, because of waking up feeling headachey and goosepimply. I always produce quite a bit of pee at night, but that was a lot for me. However, I get a few hours between midday and about 6 pm, where for some reason I don't often produce much pee, so that's a bit of a break for me. |

I usually go 8hrs for sleep without cathing.... but I think I might change that. Its definitely not good for me, and I have accidents (relatively) often like maybe once or twice a month. Also it requires me not drinking anything for the last 3-4 hrs before I go to sleep, which is definitely not good for my kidneys and whatnot. But I like sleep so much, its going to be a PITA to have to get up in the middle of the night and spend 15 minutes pissing just so I can get back in bed.

When I first got home I would set my alarm at 3 am to cath. I don't need to now - my body always wakes me up between 2 and 4. I'm a lot like rehabrhino - I cath at 3 am, 6am, 8am, & 10am. Then in the afternoon I cath at 2 pm, 6 pm and 10 pm. Not sure why I have to go so much in the morning - but I do. I never drink anything after dinner - usually around 7 pm. Mike

I have to wear condom cathether when I sleep because inasmuch as I do cath before sleeping, I still get to urinate while in bed/sleep. As soon as I wake up, I do the 4 hour routine.

I cath at 11pm before bed and usually sleep through until about 5:30am. After my 5:30am cath I usually have to go again at 8am and 10am and then I get back on an every 5 hours schedule unless I drink too much diet coke.
