bath lift
I'm looking for a bath lift for my Dad, and would appreciate advice from anyone who has used one. Dad is 97 and had a stroke last year, so although he can walk with a walker and can get into a bath tub, he can't climb back out. There are several battery powered lifts on the market. What's the likelihood of getting fingers stuck in the folding mechanism?
Thanks for any answers - Richard |

Does he really need to get all the way into the tub and soak? It is safer for him to shower in the tub with a tub bench, and there are lots of those available that are easy to use and inexpensive.
This type is expensive, but would pretty much eliminate any concern about finger pinches: http://www.rehabmart.com/product/15995.htm (KLD) |

Thanks for the quick answer, KLD, you're great!
Woof, that one is expensive! I was wondering about finger pinches, too - are they very likely? I see one model (appropriately named Archimedes) uses a screw mechanism. Unfortunately, Dad will get down into the tub whether or not he can get out again! He has been having showers in a shower stall, but dislikes them. - Richard |
