how to put a tampon in?

How do you put your tampon in? Easier on a toilet or on a w/c? But might get your w/c dirty if change on a w/c right? Thank you

At first in bed with a mirror! lol

Then while on the toilet.

I don't recommend tampons in paralysis though I have no research to back this up. Sure they're handy, more discreet and cleaner ... but I find it ironic that I suffered a prolapse a year after I started using them.

I *do not* miss Aunt Flo, the monthly curse, Code Red or rag or whatever you want to call it!

I can't answer for quads as I'm a lucky para. Good luck!

One of the brands have come out with a rubber grip strip to hang onto applicator better. Brand in a black box...blanking on name.

It's the U Brand by Kotex. The only thing about the "grip" is you need to pull the plunger into the proper position for insertion. If you are a quad, using your teeth on the unextended plunger end can "pop" it into place. There is a slight click when you have it right.

As for how to insert, it takes practice. Try it at home when you have time, are not in a hurry. Depending upon how difficult it is for you to transfer, the toilet may work better, be less messy.

BTW, if you IC, inserting a tamp should be much easier for you to do.

Lynnifer, I'd be surprised if tamps get the blame for prolapse. I thought (assumed?) creding would be a culprit, but not tamps.

Long term crede too yes .. 20+yrs. Due for my check-up with the uro-gyne next Wednesday up in Toronto.

I just think it's ... unsafe for tampons in a sitting female with paralysis ... but it's only my opinion.
