What are you thinking for a new chair?

Well, I'm only 6' 2" and about 200lbs. Plenty of guys are bigger. Anyway, I got an EZ Lock ball and chain on my chair so I suppose I need a box frame wheelchair. Though after looking at your swanky TRA with the flip up footrest (I prefer to put my feet on the ground to transfer too) I was thinking if possibly the EZ Lock bolt could be secured to the bottom of the footrest and I could ditch all the steel brackets....that would be pretty cool. I dunno....my sense is something light like a Quickie GP. I'd even shell out up to 5-7K of my own dough to get a custom wheelchair like a Lasher if they could incorporate an EZ Lock component into the frame and I could be certain the chair itself would fit properly. I keep looking. I have a couple of DME dealers around here and they really suck. I want to demo a few chairs and they aren't too responsive.

I went with a TR (it's not a TRa) for the box style frame because I also need to incorporate a lockdown to it. Now, the lockdown I use in my van is from the mid 80's and no longer made, I simply move it from van to van. The lockdown on my chairs for the past 20 years have be "home made", in that I had someone local make it for me; I am doing the same thing for the TR. Not all may be comfortable with this, one has to decide for themselves; I have a friend that has a TiLite Aero Z that he had someone local incorporate an EZ lock setup for.

Brian, I would love to see that home-made EZ Lock component on your friend's TiLite Aero Z. Also, I'd like to see the EZ Lock component that you end up putting on your TR. I know what you mean about "not being comfortable" with altering the EZ Lock setup and compromising safety then slapping some ugly ass steel on a new titanium/aluminum wheelchair. But the EZ Lock bracket weighs 12lbs. by itself. Gotta be a better way.

Mine will not be an EZ lock, I use a different lockdown. It will be a little while before I have something on my new chair, unfortunately. The guy building it hopes to start next week.

I will check your profile and see if you accept emails and send you a picture I have of his chair with lockdown, although it doesn't show it all.

Someone else (Junkyarddog) on here once posted pictures of an EZLock bracket they had made for a Top End Terminator which is very similar to a TiLite TR. It looked very nice. Here is a link to his original post.

hello Brianm

nice chair! congrats!

Do you remember about my problem with this handrims? I ordered the same, and in my case, the projections length are too small for me. Very dificult to get a proper pushing.

I've made an improvement using pvc tube:

but I'm waiting for a friend to come back from U.S to bring a new set of custom projection handrims.

Hi Chriz,

I do remember your thread, which was the first to make me aware of this issue and led me to do checking before I ordered. While I was sure I wasn't going to be fully satisfied with the projections that I would receive, I figured I could at last use them until I found something better, which I can and am using them.

I have investigated having a custom made set as you are and I will be very curious to see what you get. Who did you go through for the custom set and what did you order different?

I will hopefully have a set of "Twisted" Push Balcks on this weekend to see how I like those.

I also have problems with sagging sling (I am tall and heavy). I made for my previous chair insert from plywood. I just received new TiLite 2GX. Because I did not buy aluminium insert with the chair I am making new plywood insert for 2GX. Will see how it works. ( sorry if this is a bit irrelevant:- testing , my first post)

Welcome to the forums Kriasb!

Actually my upholstry is fully tight. It may appear loose in one picture because I threw an oversized cushion in the chair for the picture and it didn't settle in flat.
