The answer I use most for the question "How are you doing?" is Miserable. With that the subject is changed as if I did not answer at all.

Yea i totally agree if people really dont care then why ask. Just dont ask u know cause i tell the truth everyday im hurting or when i dont feel good cause i take alot of meds for my RA and osteoarthritis,capal tunel,GERD,Osteoperosis its like well try putting yourself in my shoes then you would know..But yea dont ask if u dont care cause i dont lie!!!
