Do I have Impaction?

I have had mild cramps just under the sternum for 2 weeks coupled wiith an urgent need to relieve my bowel straight after eating, which would only produce light colored bile with a few lumps... I've had one motion that presented what I would call fairly solid. But I couldnt call it complete since it was only one instance in around 2 weeks. I always thought impaction would be lower down the intestinal tract... I do get constipation regularly... I had a failed bladder augmentation done in '09 and have a hernia as a result where the pain is.. It's never painful otherwise... Is it possible the hernia could be causing this problem? I've never used anything to help bowel movements artificially so I am looking for advice as to what to use... I've heard of enemeez and movicol but that's about it...

I had a small bowel obstruction due to postsurgical adhesions in the abdominal cavity years after my surgery for bladder augmentation. It came on quite suddenly over the course of a few hours, but I'm sure it was building over the years. You may wish to talk to a gastrointestinal surgeon to do an imaging study to make sure you're getting open flow through your upper and lower bowel.

if you haven't gone to the ER already you need to go now. have you changed your diet? this is an emergency since it has been 2 weeks already.

Sorry I wasn't ignoring u guys.. I fell asleep.. You sure this warrants a trip to the ER?... I'm not in any pain... Just looking for a home remedy... Laxatives? Suppositories?

you haven't had a bowel movement in 2 weeks right if so then yes it warrants a trip to the ER but if you want to try home rememidies first you might try mag citrate it may help but 2 weeks is a long time without a bm you should have been trying home rememdies at around day 4 or 5. also don't know what level your injury is but do you have or get AD how can you tell you have no real pain, for me i can't tell i have pain beyond my belly button i just have to guess unless my Blood Pressure goes really low or really high. my autonomic dysfunction takes over and alerts me that there is a problem. once i resolve it the blood pressures get better.

I'm T10... I can feel most of my gut, even when the constipation is lower down near the colon... Was confused coz the pain is so high this time... never had it this high before... Bizarre... I don't get AD, I have no fever and no pain unless i need to go to the toilet... will get some mag citrate to see if that works...

Distended??? Pain? You need to regularly use stool softener, with enemeez or suppository. If has been longer than 3 days then give yourself a fleets enema and a laxative.

I just had a bowel obstruction, it is nothing to put off, I almost ended up with a gangrenous colon. If what you're sayng is it''s been 2 weeks since you had a bm yes you need to get to an er, if not you need to see a GI doc.
