Looking....
Ok...so I am leaning heavily on going for the botox injections to finally cut all these bladder spasms, but I'm having a hard time finding a good, experienced, SCI doctor in my area that does this procedure. How can I find one in my area, or close(Northern Virginia)? Anybody know? Nurse? Does a urologist even do this or another type of doctor?

Hi Druston,
I have moved this to the Doctors section. A urologist is the person who does the botox treatments at our hospital. AAD |

re botox in n.virginia
Hi,
I had a similar problem which has (for now) resolved itself because of neurological changes. But I researched urologists around here like crazy. I live in Rockville. If you can get to NJ, I would make an appointment to see Todd Linsenmeyer at Kessler. You'll have to wait for an appointment (like a few months) but he is the best there is for SCI to tell you if you really need botox. It's a 4-hr drive. For local people, Dr Philips helps a lot of patients at NRH. I never saw him but I hear he is pretty good. His office is in downtown DC. There is a neuro-urology clinic at Kernan Hospital in Baltimore. The physiatrist is Dr Peter Gorman and the urologist is Dr David Gordon. They have a study going on and you can get free botox (if that is an issue because if your insurance won't cover it, it is very expensive) if you participate. Gordon has been doing botox for a long time. And there is a urologist at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center named Dr Edward James Wright who works with a lot of SCI. He is great and I am sure he can help you. |
