A few basic mitrofanoff questions...

I went in for a consult today for the mitrofanoff procedure...it went well. I'm very excited about the prospect of getting it done and hope I'm an eligible candidate. I'm getting a CT-Scan done on Friday to make sure I don't have any stones, etc, before the dr. decides I can get it done. ANYHOW, here are a few questions I have for you gals who've gotten it done.

- Is the mitrofanoff the same as an ileovesicostomy?

- How long is recovery time till it works and when can you have sex again?

- What do you do while you're in bed to drain it? I sleep 8-9 hrs usually...will I have to wake up to drain it?

- As a C6 quad with good wrist function, I should be able to insert the cath into the stoma independently right?

- Will I still want to wear stomach bearing tops afterwards, or will my belly button look all weird?
