chondroitinase treatment for MS?

Shelley,

I have not heard much about use of chondroitinase for MS but it makes sense to use it to regenerate axons in MS. I am running around a lot now but I will try to post some information when I get the time on the CareCure website. Look in http://carecure.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=77

Dear Dr. Young,
I've just finished reading an article about you and your research with spinal cord injuries. While reading about the drug chondroitinase and how it works to inhibit the bodies defense system on attacking new nerve growth I was wondering how this drug would help someone with multiple sclerosis. It seems to me that the same theory used with this drug in spinal cord injuries could also apply to MS. That possibly someones immune system with MS could benefit from this drug. Possibly the damaged drugs could actually regenerate themselves if this drug was taken. I don't know much about these things and this certainly isn't my field of study but while reading your article it just made sense to me. I hope I hear from you.

Shelley, I just did a Medline search for any articles that talked about use of chondroitinase in multiple sclerosis. Zip. I then did a search for any article that has chondroitinase and demyelination. Only four articles appeared, all from 1967-1982 and all related to the use of chondroitinase in chemical assays to assess myelin and not related to the disease.

So, surprisingly, you have struck upon a novel idea. Let me continue looking. Wise.
