All my toys are gone!
Well it has been twenty five months sense my fall and as of tonight all my big boy toys are finally gone. I hope I don't sound like a materialistic person but what took me twenty five years to acquire is gone now. Tonight the Sea Ray Ski Boat went down the road. It started with my Chevy 4X4 Pickup three months after the fall. Standard transmissions are not that cheap to convert for hand controls. Next was the Hobie Cat sail boat even though I was not that great of a sailor it was fun to fly the hull when ever I had a chance. Next was my German Shorthair Hunting Dog, I could not stand to watch her spend her days in the yard or the kennel she needed to be out in the brisk North Dakota October mornings her head into the wind as she criss crossed the fields looking for and then pointing a Rooster Pheasant. I owed that to her she was born to hunt not be a yard dog. Nor could I make sure that she had enough food or water in the extreme cold of our winters. Pushing a manual chair through a 12 inch snow drift was next to impossible. Next was the fishing boat even though it was old, I had owned it sense my second year in North Dakota. Man I caught a lot of Walleyes out of that boat. Yes gone are all of my old toys. But you know how boys and their toys go I just bought a new Pontoon Boat so that I can roll onto it and take my five year old son and wife out on the lake. I might not be leaning into a deep cut with my Salomon ski but I sure as hell can tow the little guy on a tube, and fish for Walleyes with him and her. Yes I have lost all my toys but I still have the two most important things in my life my wife and son and with them who needs big boys toys anyway.
