food poisoning treatment

so idiot me drank a cup of beef broth that expired in april and since tuesday have had sporadic cold sweats and the occasional stray piece of poop [no diarrhea or nausea though thank god]. seems to me prolonged for minor food poisoning. what can i do to make it better [probiotics]? the medical websites dont cover my symptoms, it's all about drinking fluids cause of diarrhea.

I would stay away from dairy if your already gassy..lol..but probiotics def and major water to flush it out. Pepto can help prevent this but not sure if if can help after the fact.

Dosen't sound like food posioning to me, you would have the nausea and diarrhea as well, sounds more like a fever from some kind of infection to me. I forget what level you are but do you get AD? Try checking your Blood pressure when you are having the sweats. Maybe worth a call to the doc tomorrow as well.

I've had both salmonella and Vibrio.cholera and both give you the screaming sh*ts for about 48 to 72 hours for ABs. Salmonella gave me a fever for a few days of about 100. The cholera did nothing to my temperature but that does start within about 6 hours. Canned food is more likely to be botulism and you'd be in a hospital by now if it was that stuff. The virus I just finally put behind me including everything from fever, sore throat, body aches, headache and serious belly pain right where IBS attacks also hit. I understand that my 'virus' is what others are calling the flu. I haven't gotten a shot yet so got me. Anyhoo, I think you're ok unless the can also had a dent or hole in it. Military vets are used to test and extend the end use of products sold in commissaries when not we're not at war. Most canned goods have at least a one year grace period.
I'd call your doc tomorrow unless you start having a fever or diahhrea.

Nicole if it was food posioning you would be vomiting and have the shits trust me I have had it a couple of times once you have it once you never want it again you are violently ill for days. I would call your doctor tomorrow if you are concerned. But I do not believe it is food posioning either way they are going to tell you to keep hydrated and let it runs its course. There is really no treatment for food posioning other than the hydration.

The only thing that added vomitting to the diahhrea and a high fever was the bad wine I had back in..1988 or so in Italy. Several companies added, well, something like antifreeze to their red wine to up the alcohol content. A lot of people went blind and a few died. Thankfully I was trying cheapo wines to cook with and that were drinkable. Just under one glass had me dumping it and that made me sick very quickly. Ashleigh is right. You know if you've got food poisoning.

Do you think the sweating is due to drinking something with a huge salty content?

well this is my first bp night since drinking the expired broth without the cold sweats and feeling pressure from my bowels so the probiotics stopped something [they did pump me up with antibiotics my last day in the hospital after the cath misshap].

todd when i was in the hospital my sodium count was at seizure levels so i'm on a high sodium diet - salt, coconut water, chicken broth - but the sweating is accompanied by the chills.

oh smash i'm a quad and get minor AD symptoms, never had cold sweats like this tho. I'm not too worried about it tho wasnt plnning on calling the doc since i feel fine.

sue the broth was from Trader joes it comes in a carton, it did taste yucky
