Had to have CPR last week
I had just finished dinner, laying in bed watching TV when I had a massive seizure. I guess I was foaming at my mouth and I aspirated and couldn't breathe. My caregiver had to call 911 and I guess she Barely feel my pulse so she even had to do chest compressions. It happened from having a bladder infection get out of control although I had no other symptoms other than smelly urine. I increased my seizure medicine and hopefully it won't happen again. It took me forever to cough up the fluid in my lungs after I came to but at least I got it up. Spent two days in the hospital getting some heavy-duty antibiotics but I'm a better now. I'm sure glad my caregiver new CPR. Not all of them have.

Get the levels of your medicine checked to make sure you are always in therapeutic range.

Did she do CPR on the bed? I'm going to take this opportunity to remind ppl-CPR needs to be done on a hard surface.
I had forgotten that long ago myself. For some reason not long ago I saw a reminder and skimmed it. What stood out to me were 2 things-Hard flat surface and do compressions to the beat of "Staying Alive" (disco song from Saturday Night Fever". Not a month after I read that, I kept a doofus alive until 911 arrived. I just rolled him onto the floor, gravity handled the rest. Getting him face up was more difficult. Glad you're ok, Ryan. |

I think if this is a problem with you then you should always ask/advertise for someone trained in CPR or willing to learn. Most hospitals I know of have classes for both adult and infant/child CPR every few months. Check it out and any costs. Then if you find an otherwise qualified aide willing to learn you can decide who should pay for the class when hiring them.

I have a tag to pull on the mattress to deflate the bed instantly but it was forgot about. My caregiver dragged me onto the floor and did CPR that way. And I know, if it's not one thing it's another, or for me everything at once. I don't know what to do anymore. I think I might go live in a facility or something. Has anyone else here done that? I was thinking some kind of group home or assisted-living apartment, depending on what I could get paid for.
