Did the 30 mile option of the High Sierra Fall Century yesterday. Last year I did the 50 and it was a struggle to finish. Decided to make it just a fun day this time... and it was. Such a beautiful place to ride. So glad that I have gotten to the point of being able to do a 30 mile "fun ride".
I'm going to try and get more adaptive cyclists to this event next year. http://www.fallcentury.org/index.html A friend of Arndog's did the entire century. I expect Arndog to schedule his ascent of majestic peaks around this ride next year. ![]() I now have a goal of doing the entire century next year. It is going to take serious effort. I am nowhere near close to being able to do it now. Maybe I am just not built for this level of athletics... we will see. If I can't do the century, a respectable goal would be to finish the 50 miler in the same time as Arndog and friend do the 100! Life is good.

Great job - my395 - I wish I could have been there but was in Colorado paradise instead. Garro -great photos of the true paradise - the Colorado River.
Revis - nice fish Today - handcycled with another Reno, NV friend on an organized ride around Lake Tahoe for juvenile diabetes research. 71 miles 3000 ft climbing - 1500 riders and us two handcylists. Great day. Here is another Crutch descent picture of Ajax Peak in Telluride. Off the trail pointing straight down with big strides and swing throughs - got to love gravity. Sidestix crutches with CF tubes - |

After 5 weeks of travel, travel (eat too much, sleep too little, hardly any exercise), bronchitis, more travel, I'm finally home (for a couple of weeks) and forcing myself to do something (anything!) every day.
Went out for a 14 mile handcycle ride with my husband this morning - beautiful fall day here in Colorado! |

Great pics you guys, thanks for sharing.
Well lots of hand cycling and riding my foot bike. We were having a party, so of course it was house cleaning time. Could not find my commercial window washing stuff, so decided to do it the old fashion way, newspaper and windex. No one was home, but I managed to drag the step ladder around under the windows. Could get up two steps and wash, but getting down was a lot harder. It was easer to take out the sliders and wash them in the house. A new first, going up a ladder.

Haven't been on the forum for ages as been rather busy lately. Its my last night in the Paralympic village after an awesome games. I exceeded my own expectations and came away with a world record, gold and silver medal as well as pb's in all my events. The medals will always hang proudly, but I think I am most satisfied with the pb's. The whole event was just an amazing experience and I hope has inspired more people to be involved regardless of disabilities. And not necessarily sport, but on artistic endeavors and life in general. It's going to hard to go back to a 'normal' life!

Live2ride what a huge accomplishment! Well done and many thanks for showing the SCI world proud.
I see the Dr tomorrow, hopefully, to get weight-bearing clearance. I've been working hard on hip strengthening while I've been down and am anxious to see what difference it'll make. I know I'll have to ease into things again and it'll be hard not to go at it like mad. One of the hardest things about SCI is how creepy-crawley slow recovery can be. I'm not patient....at all! |
